How Long Did Taylor Frankie Paul Have Her Instagram Deactivated? She Returns to Social Media for Scathing Mother’s Day Post
At the end of April, Taylor Frankie Paul deactivated her Instagram and TikTok accounts amid her ongoing legal battle with Dakota Mortensen. A source said she was taking a break to focus on her mental health. Recently, however, she returned to the platform to post about mental health, and to call out castmate Mikayla Matthews in a blistering Mother’s Day post.
Taylor Frankie Paul deactivated her Instagram account
Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Mortensen, have accused one another of domestic violence and filed competing protective orders against each other. As this was happening, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives paused filming, and ABC shelved Paul’s season of The Bachelorette. When a fan suggested that Paul take a step away from social media to focus on herself, she said she had no plans to do so.
“That sounds like the reasonable answer, however I will be doing the opposite,” she wrote on April 21. “I’ll continue sharing on social media showing how ugly healing truly can be.”
Just two days later, on April 23, she shut down her Instagram and TikTok accounts.
“Taylor is a taking a breather,” a source told People. “It’s been a lot last couple months to consume and will be back shortly to continue sharing her story. She’ll decide when the time is right to return to filming on Secret Lives.”
While it appears Paul’s TikTok account is still inactive, she has returned to Instagram. On May 5, she posted an AI-generated image of a dirty and bandaged version of herself staring into the mirror. A glammed-up image looks back at her. She made the post in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month.
She has since posted two more times and updated her Instagram Story.
Taylor Frankie Paul made a lengthy post on Instagram for Mother’s Day
In Paul’s most recent post, she called out Matthews for her recent comments about her. Matthews recently spoke about setting boundaries with Paul amid her slew of controversies.
While Paul shared images of her children for Mother’s Day, the caption of her post was all about Matthews.
“It’s Mother’s Day so I’ll say whatever I want,” she wrote in the caption. “As if it’s not already the worst time. I have STILL have ‘friends’ kicking me while I’m already down and calling it ‘setting a boundary’ and then BLAMES ME for being upset and responding. That’s called shaming and attack while I had a moment to breathe and she knew that.”
She went on to describe her castmate as a “snake.”
“You heard one side and never called me after, in fact ignored me twice. That is what an enemy is,” she wrote. “Your trauma doesn’t give you a pass to kick me while down and cover it with ‘a boundary’ months later after the fact… she is right to state her ‘boundary’ sure …but go ahead tell them the truth.”
What did Mikayla Matthews say about her castmate?
On May 9, Matthews posted that she’d set boundaries with Paul amid her legal drama.
“I have felt absolutely sick to my stomach and horrible for what everyone involved must be feeling and going through,” she wrote, per Us Weekly. “However, it is not my job to enable poor or dangerous behavior from either party, especially when children are involved. That doesn’t mean I don’t love them or want the best for their individual futures. It just means I cannot sit here and pretend it’s OK that years of destructive behavior are now being discussed more than ever online and turned into a ‘pick a side’ game.”
She said she has supported Paul in the past, including after her 2023 arrest, but now feels that she needs to take a step back.
“Every single time, the behaviors and patterns continued and were publicly praised for being ‘messy’ and ‘relatable.’ Continuing to show up and give sympathy to someone who has mentioned time and time again that they can’t be a friend right now, while also acknowledging they are self-aware of the decisions being made and still expecting loyalty online … would not only be a disservice to my healing, but to the other people involved as well. You cannot save someone who is unwilling to participate in their own rescue.”
In the comments of a video about Matthews’ post, Paul accused her of “waiting for my downfall.”
