‘Love Is Blind’ Is Headed to Denver for Season 9, and We Have Concerns
Netflix has revealed the singles who will be searching for love on the next season of Love Is Blind.
For season 9, which premieres October 1, the popular reality series heads to Denver. Thirty-two daters from the Mile High City will enter the pods, where they’ll get to know each other, sight unseen. Those who feel they’ve formed a solid connection will get engaged and then take their romance to the real world. After four weeks together, they’ll head to the altar, where they’ll either say “I do” or admit they need to go their separate ways.
Will ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 9 follow in the footsteps of ‘Married at First Sight’ Denver?
The Love Is Blind Season 9 cast consists of a diverse mix of singles ranging in age from 27 to 41. They include a data analyst who once biked across the U.S., a single dad whose go-to breakfast is a chicken smoothie, a UX/UI designer who went on 40 first dates last year, and an entrepreneur who feels that men are intimidated by her success.
But will any of them find true love on Love Is Blind? We’ll have to wait and see what happens. But after the disastrous Denver-based season of another reality show from the same production company, we have concerns.
Married at First Sight Season 17 also took place in Denver. It aired in 2024 and is considered by many MAFS fans as one of the show’s worst seasons. Things got off to a bad start when one groom was ditched at the altar by a runaway bride. Two other couples broke up weeks before Decision Day, while two more limped along for the full eight weeks, though they were clearly miserable.
But the real shocker came after the trial marriages were over. That’s when several cast members openly admitted to colluding behind the scenes in an attempt to control the show’s narrative. The effort backfired. No one came out of the experiment looking good, and fans’ already wavering faith in the show’s matchmaking process was shaken.
Some singles say dating in Denver is dismal
Could Love Is Blind Denver go the same way as Married at First Sight? The singles chosen for MAFS clearly had their own agenda and thought they could outwit the show’s producers. That suggests casting for the season might have been challenge. Perhaps the Love Is Blind singles are a better, less-duplicitous bunch. But if the season 9 participants aren’t committed to the process and are more concerned with their edit than their onscreen relationships, the show could suffer.
Another issue could be the Denver dating scene itself. Some single women in the city have complained that guys in the city are suffering from Peter Pan syndrome, citing “noncommittal behavior by men who are more interested in finding skiing and hiking buddies than girlfriends,” according to a report from the Denver Post. One woman told the paper that the men she meets are “so hooked on the adrenaline life that they’re not touching down to make some time for connection.” That’s doesn’t sound like a promising start for anyone looking for lifelong commitment.
Will anyone get a happily ever after on Love Is Blind Denver? Season 9 premieres October 1 on Netflix.
