Luann de Lesseps Revealed the ‘RHONY’ Moment Her Son Will ‘Never Forgive’ Her For
Luann de Lesseps spent years as a star of The Real Housewives of New York, meaning that her son and daughter had their childhoods captured by cameras. She said that her daughter, Victoria, has supported her through her ups and downs. Her son, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with reality television. The RHONY star said that a season one moment scarred him.

During the first season of The Real Housewives of New York, cameras captured Noel de Lesseps during a breakdancing lesson.
“My husband and I had a birthday party in NY and we let Noel invite some friends,” she told Bravo at the time. “They started dancing and that was it!. Cyclone is his name and dancing is his game. All kidding aside, it’s been great for Noel’s dexterity and self esteem.”
Upon reflection, de Lesseps said she realized her son did not want this moment filmed.
“My daughter has supported me through all the s*** in my life,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “My son, since the [season one] dancing moment, will never forgive me. He’s an artist; it’s not his life.”
She spoke about her experience of being a public figure
De Lesseps has become one of the most recognizable Housewives. She admitted that her level of celebrity can sometimes catch her off guard.
“Does it happen to you, though, where you’re walking around and you forget who you are?” she asked a group of other Housewives. “You’re just Luann. And then some stranger bounds up to you at a store and you think, ‘Oh, s***. I forgot. I am famous.’”
She said that just because she puts her life on television doesn’t mean that people truly know her.
“People tend to project their own lives onto you,” she said. “They think they know you and what you’re feeling. But they see just a few minutes out of your life that the producers create. But look, people care. They give you lots of bad advice, but sometimes it’s really smart and helpful. I’m a cafeteria Catholic, OK? I take what I like from social, and I leave the rest behind.”
Luann de Lesseps’ son is an artist now
In the years since The Real Housewives of New York, Noel has been dedicating his time to art.
“After I began painting, I started doing it pretty much every day,” he told Document Journal. “I’ve been on the train for about five years, with some small breaks here and there. I end up preparing myself for work. My mind empties and I’ll be in my studio, breathing, looking around, spotting a material in the corner of my eye, and on a whim, making a penetrating jump into the work and setting things in motion. Of course, on the other end of motion there is rest and meditative generation.”
He said that painting has become a sacred practice for him.
“Painting is my center in a way — it is sacred to me,” he said. “I do work with a lot of other mediums, as well, but I don’t see how art can be something segregated from anything else, as it is indeed about the world. It is a free world, a magic one, that is real. It is a way of being, a state of mind, a philosophy.”
Noel said that when he isn’t painting, he likes to write, cook, and pursue other artistic projects. He made no mention of breakdancing, though.
