Bidding on the pink rhinestone-encrusted jacket opens on December 8, with bidding starting at $0.99. The auction runs through December 15 at www.eBay.com/glaad. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit GLAAD’s Transgender Media Program.
“‘Protect the dolls’ is a phrase that has been used in support of transgender equality, specifically support for transgender women, originating in ballroom culture and popularized by a shirt from designer Conner Ives,” notes GLAAD. For more than two decades, the organization has worked to fairly and accurately tell the stories of the LGBTQ+ community, including transgender people, and raise awareness about transgender issues. GLAAD provides free media trainings to empower transgender people to share their stories.
Ives debuted his “Protect the Dolls” T-shirt at his fall 2025 runway show. Soon after, he decided to sell the shirt as a fundraiser for Trans Lifeline. Since then, many celebs have been spotted wearing the shirt, including Pedro Pascal, Addison Rae, Lisa Rinna, and Tilda Swinton.
“When I think of the challenges that trans people in the States are facing right now, I just keep thinking about how scared I was when I was a 12 year old gay white boy in an upper middle class suburb of New York City,” Ives told Vogue (via Them.Us), “let alone a trans girl in the middle of America under an administration that’s basically telling her that she doesn’t exist.”
