‘Married at First Sight’ Season 19: Who Is Jalyn’s MLB Player Dad?
Jalyn Garcia is hoping for her happily ever after on Married at First Sight.
The 27-year-old real estate agent and cycle instructor from Austin, Texas, is one of 10 singles featured on season 19 of the reality series. The show’s trio of experts matched her with Josh Black, a 31-year-old roofing company owner. In the first episode, the two tied the knot.

Jalyn is hopeful that her marriage has a better outcome than that of her parents. Her mom and dad “were high school sweethearts, but they were never in love,” she told Dr. Pepper Schwartz. (In a twist, Jalyn’s mom, 47, also got married to a stranger on this season of MAFS.)
One issue in her parents’ relationship was her dad’s career. Jesse Garcia was an MLB player drafted in 1993. Starting in 1999, his career included stints with the Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves. He retired in 2005 after a final season with the San Diego Padres.
“Growing up, my dad played professional baseball,” Jalyn explained during her matchmaking interview. “So it was a lot of on-the-go life … I never remember [my parents] hugging or saying anything really sweet. They mostly just stayed together for us, and finally, after college, they split ways … it’s shown me everything I don’t want.”
While his marriage to Jalyn’s mom didn’t work out, Jesse was 100% behind his daughter’s decision to get married at first sight.
“I wouldn’t be anywhere else … I support you in everything you want,” her said as he prepared to walk her down the aisle.

Jalyn’s mom, Belynda, shed more light on her relationship with Jesse in her initial MAFS interviews.
“We were definitely married at a young age. There were a lot of ups and a lot of downs,” she said of her marriage. “There was quite a bit of infidelity,” she added, nodding her head when a producer asked if her husband was the one who cheated.
“The marriage had to come to an end … I’ve been single for probably about eight years,” she explained. But after her youngest child went away to college, Belynda was faced with an empty nest. She’s hoping her second attempt at marriage will work out better than her first.
“I don’t feel like one marriage doesn’t work and then you just never try again,” she said. “Sometimes in life, we were meant to have two partners. I’m OK with that.”
