Ten singles are about to say “I do” to a total stranger. 

Married at First Sight returns this October for another season of romantic moments and relationship chaos. Expert Pastor Cal Roberson, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and Dr. Pia Holec are back to find each cast member’s perfect match and then guide the newlyweds through their eight-week trial marriages. But while the format of the long-running reality show will remain the same, this new season comes with one major change. After years of airing on Lifetime, MAFS episodes will now stream exclusively on Peacock.

In another twist for fans, the new season kicks off with four hour-long episodes, meaning there will be even more drama to savor all at once. 

New ‘MAFS’ season is set in Austin, might feature older couples 

After a messy Chicago season (which featured the show’s first-ever couples’ swap), MAFS is heading south to Austin,Texas, for season 19. 

The full cast hasn’t officially been revealed. But according to the @mafsfan Instagram account, producers are taking a cue from The Golden Bachelor and shaking things up a bit with this season’s participants. One couple is allegedly in their late 40 or early 50s, while another is in their late 50s or early 60s. The other three pairs are apparently range in age from late 20s to late 30s. There are also rumors that a mother and daughter are both part of the new cast.

Including older participants would be a major shift for MAFS, which in the past has mostly matched people in their 20s and 30s (though a few cast members have been in their early 40s). More mature couples will likely bring a different dynamic to the show, especially if they have to contend with issues such as blending their families during their two-month trial marriage. Chances are it will change the dynamic between the five couples as well. Cast members with more life experience could provide guidance to younger participants, and the friendships that sometimes develops among the wives and husbands might look different when people are of such different ages.
