Meghan Believed She Should Be Queen Over Kate, Royal Author Claims
Delusions of grandeur?
A royal expert claims that Meghan Markle believed that she would one day be queen over Kate Middleton.
Meghan Markle thought she was ‘going to be God’ after wedding to Prince Harry
Former BBC journalist Tom Bower has taken aim at the former Suits star in his new book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family. Among his allegations? That Meghan thought she was better suited to be on the throne than Prince William’s wife.
An “establishment figure reported to the Queen” that Meghan was under the impression that after she married Prince Harry she was “going to be God,” Bower claimed during a March 27 appearance on Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered. “Which is pretty hilarious, but clearly, she believed it,”
“Clearly, she thought… I’ve come to the conclusion, with the help of others on the inside, that she really thought she, rather than Kate, should be the next queen after Charles,” he continued. “She couldn’t understand why she was better looking, and in her view, more intelligent, harder working, and everything, should be the queen. And she hated the idea that she and Harry were relegated so far down the order. She got everything she wanted and then knew what she wanted and couldn’t get, and that was a lot. That’s why, of course, she never intended to stay,” Bower added.
Now, a vengeful Meghan is focused on “making a fortune out of trashing the royal family,” Bower claimed. But her revenge campaign has backfired, he added.
“She is now paying the price for her betrayal,” he said.
Duchess of Sussex is focused on ‘her own fame and importance’
Bower also addressed the fact that Meghan was deliberately excluded from the royal family gathering at Balmoral in the hours ahead of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, an issue covered in Harry’s memoir, Spare. Meghan only wanted to be there during the Queen’s final hours for the “photo opportunity,” according to Bower.
“She knew it was a historic moment,” he said. “She wanted to be there to show she was as important as Kate and that she was part of the family … everything she did was completely motivated with one agenda – her own fame and importance.”
Betrayal, which digs into the couple’s finances, their relationship with other royals, and other hot-button topics, prompted a strong response from Meghan and Harry. They say Bower is weirdly obsessed with taking them down.
“This is someone who has publicly stated, ‘the monarchy in fact depends on actually obliterating the Sussexes from our state of life,’ language that speaks for itself,” a spokesperson for the couple told OK.
“He has made a career out of constructing ever more elaborate theories about people he does not know and has never met,” they continued. “Those interested in facts will look elsewhere; those seeking deranged conspiracy and melodrama know exactly where to find him.”
