Meghan Markle is reportedly eager to repair her damaged relationship with her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

Meghan Markle ‘desperate’ to repair relationship with Kate Middleton

The Duchess of Sussex is planning a rare trip to the U.K. in the coming months, likely before Christmas, a source recently told Star. She knows that a return to the country she fled in 2020 will bring massive scrutiny, and she thinks that patching things up with the future queen could help manage the situation.

“She’s desperate to get ahead of the narrative, and she knows getting Kate on board would massively help,” the source said.

“If the public sees she’s making a genuine effort to heal old wounds, and they see Kate accepting her back, it’s bound to soften their feelings towards her,” the insider added.

Prince Harry is all for mending fences. “He’s been encouraging her to go for it because he’s convinced that if Meghan and Kate can clear the air, it’ll smooth things over with [Prince] William too,” the source added.

Could a Meghan-Kate reconciliation inspire William and Harry to mend fences?

Meghan and Kate’s frosty relationship dates back to the Suits star’s earliest days in the royal family, including an infamous clash over a flower girl dress at Meghan’s wedding. Meanwhile, Harry and William’s feud reportedly stems from the future king’s skeptical attitude toward his brother’s relationship with Meghan. Things worsened when Harry felt his family was not supporting him and his new wife, and the relationship between the brothers further deteriorated after the Sussexes exited the royal family and sat down for a damning tell-all interview with Oprah. Harry’s memoir Spare and the couple’s Netflix documentary widened the rift.

Harry might hope that he can improve his relationship with William if their wives are once again on speaking terms. But there’s no guarantee that will happen. The royal siblings have deep-seated issues that they need to work on if they ever hope to reconcile, an expert said, and they can’t rely on Meghan and Kate to solve the problem for them.

“I think Catherine and Meghan recognise that this [feud] is something the brothers have to work out between them,” former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Daily Express earlier this year.

Nonetheless, there have been reports that Kate has pledged to King Charles that she would make efforts to soften her husband’s attitude toward his younger brother with the hope of brokering a peace deal.

“Kate has promised Charles she’ll do everything she can to bring everyone together. She believes time is running out, and she’s not going to stand by and let this family fall apart,” a royal insider told Radar Online

Kate and Charles’ recent health problems might be inspiring both to mend fences with their estranged family members.

“Charles has had enough of the fighting,” a source told Radar. “He wants Harry back in the fold before it’s too late, and he sees Kate as the key to making that happen. William isn’t on board, but Charles believes Kate can change his mind.”

Meanwhile, Meghan is apparently eager to see Harry patch things up with his father, though she is less keen on his reconciling with William.

“Meghan knows that Harry won’t be returning to royal duties,” a source recently told Page Six. “[B]ut on a human, personal level, [she wants for him to be] able to get on good terms with his father.”
