Meghan Markle won’t have to work hard to get in character for her first acting role in eight years. 

The Duchess of Sussex is making her return to Hollywood with a role in the upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends. She’ll play herself in the Amazon MGM film, which stars Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding.

Meghan Markle films new movie in Pasadena

Meghan was spotted on set in Pasadena, California, on Wednesday, People reports. 

“Meghan was on the set today,” an insider told the publication. “She has a small part. She seemed very relaxed and happy. She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth.”

Plot details for Close Personal Friends are being kept under wraps. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s about a couple who meet and befriend a celebrity couple during a trip to Santa Barbara. Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, have lived near Santa Barbara in the exclusive community of Montecito since 2020.

Prior to marrying Harry in 2018, Meghan starred in the USA Network legal drama Suits. Her other credits including the Hallmark movies Dater’s Handbook and When Sparks Fly, as well as Horrible Bosses, CSI: Miami, and Remember Me. She stepped away from acting after she got engaged. Following her and her husband’s exit from the royal family, she’s embraced producing and has also starred in an unscripted lifestyle series for Netflix, With Love, Meghan. 

In 2022, she told Variety that she had no intention of returning to acting. 

“No. I’m done,” she said. “I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”
