Meghan Markle Chose Jewelry With ‘Quiet Symbolism’ for Kris Jenner’s 70th Birthday Bash
Meghan Markle made a point with her jewelry choices at Kris Jenner’s lavish James Bond-themed 70th birthday party over the weekend.
The Duchess of Sussex wore Aquazarra’s striking Love Link earrings to the star-studded November 8 event, held at Jeff Bezos’ mansion in Beverly Hills. The “perfect party earrings” are “minimalist, graphic, and light,” according to the jeweler’s website, making them the ideal choice for the Suits alum’s busy night. She and Prince Harry attended the Baby2Baby Gala on Saturday evening before stopping by The Kardashians star’s party.
“Meghan’s choice of the ‘Love Link’ earrings was a masterclass in transitional jewelry,” said Nilesh Rakholia, founder of online jewelry store Abelini. “They have enough sculptural drama for a gala, but the fluid, interlocking design gives them the versatility to shift straight into party mode.”
“When you’re going from a formal charity event to a late-night celebration, you need jewelry that adapts — and these earrings do exactly that,” he continued.
Meghan Markle nods to ‘connection and unity’ with jewelry choice at Kris Jenner’s party
In addition to being stylish, Meghan also might have been sending a message with her earrings.
“They’re youthful without being casual, polished without feeling overly formal. Meghan often chooses jewellery with quiet symbolism, and the interlocking links subtly nod to connection and unity — fitting for both the Baby2Baby Gala and an intimate birthday celebration,” Rakholia said.
The theme of unity could also be a subtle nod to her relationship with her husband, Prince Harry. The pair have often made a point to show a united front to the public in the wake of their controversial exit from the royal family. At a Dodgers-Blue Jays World Series game a few weeks ago, both wore matching hats to support Meghan’s hometown team. And they donned coordinating black outfits at a charity gala in October in New York City, noted Harper’s Bazaar.
Meghan is ‘no longer half of a royal due,’ expert says
At the same time as she’s highlighting that she’s part of a team with Harry, Meghan has made recent efforts to reestablish an identity apart from her husband. In addition to her Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, she’s been expanding her As Ever brand with new product launches and has taken on her first acting job in eight years. (She’ll play herself in a small role in the upcoming movie Close Personal Friends.) In October, she attended Paris Fashion Week on her own. She also appeared at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit to discuss her business ventures.
“Meghan is no longer half of a royal duo,” PR expert Mark Borkowski told Us Weekly. “She’s re-emerging as a solo brand: global, aspirational and strategically aloof. The royal chapter was about proximity to power. This one’s about reclaiming it.”
