It’s no secret that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity took a nosedive after they stepped down as working royals.

Things likely would have went a lot differently if they moved to America and lived their lives the way they wanted without taking shots at Harry’s relatives. But instead, once they moved to the U.S., they started firing verbal grenades at the British royals and airing out the family’s dirty laundry in public to the highest bidder.

There was the big sit-down special with Oprah Winfrey, the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, the duke’s memoir Spare, and other televised interviews to promote Harry’s book in which the royals were attacked. With every public dig, the Sussexes drew the battle lines. The Oprah interview occurred when Queen Elizabeth II was still alive and prompted a rare response from the Palace, including the now-famous line, “recollections may vary.”

Royal fans around the world felt they had no other choice but to pick sides, and much of Britain sided with the royals who did not flee the country.

In August 2026, the prince and former Suits star surprised everyone when it was announced they were moving back to England and enrolling their children in a U.K. school. But just because they’re back doesn’t mean everyone is happy about it.

Most royal experts believe that Prince Harry may have a chance to get back some of the good graces he once had if he continues to make appearances and behaves the way he did when he was one of the most popular members of his family. But that’s a much harder sell for Meghan as the Duchess of Sussex consistently lands towards the bottom of the list when it comes to the popularity of each royal family member. But she’s actually not the least popular royal.

The family member who ranks dead last in popularity is the former Prince Andrew. It’s no surprise that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is the least popular royal, according to the results of a poll published by the Daily Express on Nov. 3.

Respondents gave Prince Harry a 60% negative score, and only 29% of the voters have a positive opinion of him. Meanwhile, a mere 20% of people see Meghan positively.

However, it was Andrew who came in behind the former actress in terms of negative popularity. King Charles’ brother has a negative score of 89% and just a 4% positive rating.

It’s no mystery why Andrew is so unpopular. Although he’s denied the assault allegations against him, he was involved and associated with Jeffrey Epstein for years. That was proven with the release of numerous documents in the Epstein files. In 2025, King Charles stripped his sibling of his remaining titles and honors before evicting him from his royal lodge home in Windsor and shipping him 100 miles away to live in Norfolk.

In a separate poll, respondents did make it known that they are still not fond of Harry and Meghan with a whopping 75% of respondents voting that they would like them to move away from the U.K.

If anyone is wondering who topped the list of the most popular royal family members, that goes to Prince William with an impressive 74% positive approval rating, and only 18% viewing him negatively. His wife, the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) comes in just behind him with a 72% positive rating and 14% negative.
