The ‘Melania’ Premiere Red Carpet Was Seriously Lacking in Star Power
The stars were not out for Thursday’s premiere of Melania in Washington, D.C.
The recently renamed Trump Kennedy Center hosted the January 29 screening of the documentary about First Lady Melania Trump. But even though Amazon MGM Studios has sunk a reported $75 million in acquisition and marketing costs into the movie, that investment didn’t pay off in terms of interest from bold-faced names.
Who attended the ‘Melania’ premiere?
Few celebrities attended the Melania premiere, with photos from the premiere’s red carpet mostly featuring snaps of members of the Trump administration. In addition to Melania and Donald Trump, attendees includes Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and his wife, former TV judge Jeannie Pirro (now the U.S. Attorney for the District of Colombia), and The Dr. Oz Show host Mehmet Oz (now the administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.)
Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. walked the red carpet solo. His wife, Curb Your Enthusiasm actor Cheryl Hines, appears to have skipped the event.
Many members of the Trump family were also no-shows, including the president and first lady’s son, Barron Trump. Donald Trump’s children from his previous marriages also do not appear to have been present.
The Trumps weren’t the only missing faces. The invite list for the premiere included Todd, Julie, Savannah and Chase Chrisley from Chrisley Knows Best, rapper Waka Flocka Flame, musician A.R. Rahman, and Jordan Belfort, who inspired the movie The Wolf of Wall Street, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But it’s not clear if any of those people came out for Thursday’s screening.
Nicki Minaj supports Donald Trump

One recognizable figure who did turn up was Nicki Minaj. She’s generated headlines – and controversy – in recent weeks as cozies up to the divisive Republican president. Melania director Brett Ratner (best known for the Rush Hour movies) was there, as was TV personality Dr. Phil.
While many celebrities have spoken out against the Trump administration since he began his second term as president – including Bruce Springsteen, Billie Eilish, and Lady Gaga – he still has some Hollywood supporters. Kelsey Grammer, Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, Kevin Sorbo, and Dean Cain have all praised the president and his policies. But none of them attended the Melania premiere.
