“Yo fam. Finally, I’m divorced,” Michael announced in a video shared on Instagram. “Single Life, here I come,” he added.

“Finally official — divorced,” he wrote in the caption. “Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way. I appreciate you all. New chapter begins.”

Michael, who is from Nigeria, and Angela, who is 22 years his senior, made their TLC debut in 2018 on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. Their tumultuous relationship made them regulars on the reality series, which chronicled their chaotic ups and downs, including Angela’s often aggressive behavior toward her husband-to-be.

Despite their challenges, Angela and Michael tied the knot in January 2020. But between the COVID-19 pandemic and other hurdles, he didn’t arrive in the U.S. until December 2023. Once he and Angela were in the same country, their marriage quickly broke down, with Michael fleeing their shared home in February 2024.

Months later, Angela filed for an annulment. She claimed the marriage was fraudulent and that Michael only married her to get a green card. He responded by filing for divorce. In his petition, he denied he’d hoodwinked Angela into marrying him and claimed that she was abusive. He also wanted spousal support.

Michael didn’t get his wish for spousal support, according to Us Weekly. In their divorce settlement, both he and Angela waived their right to alimony. Each with be responsible for their own debts and attorney fees.

The TLC stars also both agreed to not “knowingly make or cause to be made any false statement of fact about the other Party to a third party, or issue any public statement, with the intent and purpose of materially harming the reputation of the other Party.”

‘90 Day Fiancé’ looks forward to ‘a new chapter’

Now, Michael’s marriage is in his rearview mirror, and he’s looking forward to a fresh start.

“It’s a new chapter in my life,” Michael said in a video shared a few days after his divorce announcement. I’m starting all over and I need to focus on myself … you all know it’s not been easy over the years. I just want to focus on myself and be a better version of me … the best is yet to come.”

Several of Michael’s fellow 90 Day stars responded to his divorce news with congratulation.

“I’m so happy for you my dearest friend @mykol_01 I’m going through the same and seeing your outcome really gives me hope,” wrote Jasmine Pineda. Jasmine is the middle of her own divorce battle with her husband, Gino Palazzolo.

“[Live] your the best life brother you deserve it,” commented Anny Francisco.

“More blessings and more power,” chimed in Faith Gutod Tuloc.

One person who hasn’t weighed in on Michael’s divorce? Angela. So far, she’s been silent on social media about the legal end of her marriage.
