Miley Cyrus is planning to say “I do” to her boyfriend, Maxx Morando. 

The pop star subtly signaled that she was engaged when she was spotted with a sparkling diamond ring on her left hand during an appearance at the Avatar: Fire And Ash premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on December 1. 

A source confirmed to People that the “Flowers” singer, 33, and Morando, 27, are engaged.

Maxx Morando is a musician   

The Hannah Montana star and her musician boyfriend have been dating since at least December 2021, when they were spotted backstage at her NBC New Year’s Eve holiday special. 

Morando is a drummer for the band Liily. Before that, he was a drummer for the LA punk band The Regrettes. He and Cyrus have collaborated musically, with Morando helping to produce and write songs for her 2025 album Something Beautiful. In an Instagram post, he called it “the sickest project I have ever been apart of.” He also worked on her 2023 album Endless Summer Vacation.

After some high-profile romances, Cyrus has kept her relationship with Morando relatively private. But she has revealed some details about how they met. 

“We got put on a blind date,” she told British Vogue. “Well, it was blind for me and not really for him. I thought, ‘The worst that can happen is I leave.’”

Some people have commented on Cyrus and Morando’s five-year age gap. But she says it’s no big deal, though they do have some differences in their upbringings. 

“He looks at life really differently than I do,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “He grew up with a laptop. I had a desktop computer that I shared with my brothers and sisters.”

“He’s very similar to me. We just don’t take life too seriously,” she added. 

Cyrus was previously married to Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth. They split up in 2019 just eight months after they tied the knot. She’s said her relationship with Morando his far healthier than her past partnerships. 

“I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me. I had to learn that the hard way because my mommy taught me the wrong way and then I had to learn the right way by myself,” she told The Cut in a 2025 group interview with her mom, Tish Cyrus, and sisters Brandi Cyrus and Noah Cyrus. 

“I had to find someone who treats me with respect and then Mom never really put that on the top three of her must-haves,” Miley continued. “Mom was like, They need to be tall.”
