Julius Randle was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the seventh overall pick of the 2014 NBA draft. He broke his ankle in his first regular-season game with the team and ended up missing the remainder of his rookie year.

In 2018, he signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. After one season in The Big Easy, Julius joined the New York Knicks. His time in Big Apple came to an end in 2024 when the three-time All-Star was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Through the highs and lows and each city change, one woman has been by his side and that’s his wife, Kendra. Here’s more about the athlete and his significant other.

How Julius and Kendra met and when they got married

Julius and Kendra are college sweethearts. The basketball player met then-Kendra Shaw in 2013 at her 20th birthday party when they were both students at the University of Kentucky.

Kendra received her degree in fashion merchandising and founded her own fashion line, KALORE.

On June 20, 2016, while vacationing in Santorini, Greece, Julius asked Kendra to marry him and she happily accepted. She posted about his proposal and described that evening as “the best night of my entire life.”

The pair tied the knot on Aug. 3, 2017, at the stunning Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California. The location provided sweeping views of the ocean as guests dined on classic Southern comfort dishes like chicken and waffles, and pecan pie.

In an interview with the New York Post, Julius talked about knowing he wanted to marry Kendra even though they were young in their early 20s at the time, explaining, “You never really plan when you’re going to get married. It was more about the individual. My wife was the perfect individual for me. I didn’t see any point in waiting. She was the person I knew I wanted to be with–young or not. It didn’t matter what part of my life I met her–I knew I wanted to marry her. But we were together four years before we got married anyway.”

How many children they have together

Today, Julius and Kendra have three children.

They welcomed their first child, Kyden Jay Randle, on Dec. 23, 2016.

Their second son, Jayce Carter Randle, was born Oct. 16, 2021. The proud parents shared the happy news with their fans via social media.

“This year has been full of blessings but this is by far our biggest,” Kendra posted with the hashtag “RandlePartyof4.”

On April 14, 2025, their daughter, Romi Joelle Randle, arrived. Kendra took to Instagram soon after welcoming the new addition to their family, writing: “Happy Easter from our family of 5. We’re so happy our Romi Joelle is here. My heart is so full.”

Kendra fires back after PDA criticism from former NBA player

Kendra and Julius weren’t shy about showing their love for each other in 2023 when they shared an on-court kiss following a playoff victory.

During an episode of Gil’s Arena, former NBA player Kenyon Martin talked about that and criticized Julius for doing it, saying: “That’s the first thing you do? Where’s your mind at? The very first thing he did when the game was over … walked over and kissed his wife.”

Kendra fired back at Martin for his take via X, writing: “Slow news day I guess. Both of us grew up in single parent homes. We never saw our dads respect our mothers. I’m so grateful my kids get to grow up watching their dad be the best father and husband.”

In a follow-up tweet, she added: “By the way that was after a win. He would never be in the mood to kiss or even talk after a loss lol. But talk about real issues. Not a husband and father loving his family.”
