David Beckham and Victoria Beckham have been married for more than 25 years. The couple tied the knot on July 4, 1999, at the Luttrellstown Castle just outside Dublin, Ireland.

The lavish affair was considered then to be the celebrity event of the decade. However, Victoria later downplayed it, telling The Business of Fashion, “I think that the media glamorized the wedding much more than it actually was. I love to have fun. I work very very hard. I take what I do very seriously. I want to be a great wife, a really great mum, but I wanna have fun as well. Sometimes my tongue-in-cheek sense of humor does tend to get me in trouble, but the wedding wasn’t as huge as everybody made it out.”

That comment, of course, has some curious about just how much the wedding would cost today?

Using OLBG data, here’s how much the Beckhams would have to shell out today from what they wore to the venue to the cost of the food served.

The Beckhams’ wedding ceremony attire and their purple suits

For the big day, Victoria wore a strapless champagne-colored silk Vera Wang ball-gown style dress with an 18-foot train. It featured a waist-cinching corset that was designed by Wang in collaboration with Mister Pearl. The bodice was crafted in both London and New York, requiring the dress to travel across the Atlantic multiple times.

The gown cost $135,000 back in 1999. When adjusted for inflation in 2025, the cost almost doubles to $258,000. Posh Spice also donned a stunning 18-karat gold tiara designed by Slim Barrett, adorned with brilliant-cut diamonds. It went to auction in 2012 for $34,000. In today’s money, that would be close to $49,000.

The couple wore matching purple outfits to their reception. Victoria rocked a mermaid gown with one red-and-purple floral embellished strap. David, meanwhile, sported a double-breasted suit with a purple flower attached to his lapel. Their coordinating looks were designed by Antonio Berardi, and today they would set you back $51,000.

Luttrelstown Castle, the venue where the Beckhams’ wedding was held, can be rented out today for $47,000, but that doesn’t include food. While David and Victoria exchanged vows in front of just 29 guests, they had 230 guests attend the reception including fellow Spice Girls Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), as well as David’s Manchester United teammates, and Elton John who performed at the event.

Feeding that many people would have cost a cool $15,000 back then, which works out to an eye-watering $28,000 today.

And finally, there was the Beckhams’ wedding cake designed by British artist and sculptor Damien Hirst. The cake had alternating layers of apple and chocolate, and their names “Victoria & David” were inscribed on it in diamonds. Yes, diamonds. So how much did that cost?

Well, in 1999 it was $15,000, meaning today getting that same type of cake would run you a little more than $28,000.
