Dolly Parton’s Nephew Breaks Silence After ‘Killer’ Threat Allegation Sparks Restraining Order
Dolly Parton’s nephew, who announced her death last month, is now embroiled in a legal dispute with her estate. Bryan Seaver was recently embroiled in a controversy after his aunt’s estate entity, She’s Alive, LLC, filed a restraining order against him.
Seaver, who was also Parton’s head of security, is the son of Cassie Nan Parton, one of the Jolene singer’s 11 siblings. He was the first one who announced that his aunt passed away about a month ago in a video. Within a few weeks of the country star’s passing, a dispute between Seaver and SAL came to light.
According to TMZ, Parton’s longtime manager Danny Nozell filed a restraining order against her nephew. In the court filings, Nozell shared details of an exchange with Seaver and claimed that the latter demanded money. Moreover, the manager reported that Parton’s nephew began “invoking his self-proclaimed military-contractor experience, access to weapons, and capacity for violence” to force Nozell to pay him money.
One of the alleged threats in the filings read, “Her money better be bigger than I can make elsewhere or I’m going to f— everyone. I am about to become the hand of retribution for my entire family.” Nozell claimed that Seaver also threatened to ruin Parton’s brand partnership via a podcast.
The court documents further claimed that Seaver continued to threaten Parton’s estate entity and manager, saying that all he will do is “warfare.” The filings further claimed that Seaver wrote, “I’m not an entertainment person. I’m a killer,” in a text exchange.
Eventually, Nozell fired Seaver from his long-term position on September 15. He asked the court not to let Seaver interfere with the late country music star’s business in his lawsuit. Moreover, he also requested that the court ask the former security personnel to stay 1,000 feet away from his office.
In his defense, Seaver claimed that he spoke about his profession in the text exchange portrayed as threats. He clarified that he stands by his comments mentioned in the lawsuit, but argued that they were not meant to be threats.
Parton’s nephew also claimed that the lawsuit was filed merely to grab public attention. According to ABC News, Seaver said in a statement, “The restraining order is spurious and simply a publicity stunt.” He further brought his termination from being Parton’s head of security for the past 20 years into the conversation.
“I was fired. After the estate negotiated with me and my company for services in perpetuity and agreed to that service provision from my company,” he said. However, he was later fired for the “contrived threats.”
Seaver also addressed the court filings that claimed he called himself a “killer.” Parton’s nephew said that it was his late aunt who jokingly called him her “killer.” “Dolly called me her killer. It was a joke we used around her camp,” he said, before adding, “I was her ‘baby boy ninja’ and Danny Nozell took that text out of context to somehow imagine that I was threatening him. He’s always called me The Killer.”
Parton’s former security head maintained his ground and continuously denied the allegation. He even called the late country star’s estate managers his “brothers and colleagues.”
