‘Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing’ Season 3 Winner ‘Definitely Deserved’ $100,000 Prize, Rival Says
That’s a wrap on Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing Season 3!
This grueling season of the Discovery Channel reality series took place in the Australian Outback. The extreme heat and tough terrain were a challenge for all the survivalists, and several top competitors were knocked out relatively earlier for medical reasons. By the July 13 season finale, just three people remained in the running for the show’s top prize. So, who went home with the $100,000? Keep reading to find out.

Darrin Reay wins ‘Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing’ Season 3
The dreaded friction fire challenge returned in the second-to-last episode of Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing Season 3. Four contestants remained, but only three could advance to the final challenge. Patrick French – who had positioned himself as a successor to divisive LOS contestant Jeff Zausch – was unable to get his fire started, and he was sent home. (Interestingly, the friction fire challenge also proved too much for Jeff to handle in the first two seasons of the show.)
With Patrick gone, Cheeny Plante, Darrin Reay, and Matt Wright advanced to the season finale. The episode began with a ladder-building task. The trio then had to use their ladders to retrieve a bow and arrow, which they used to shoot at crocodile targets in the water. After swimming across the river, they had to snare a fish trap from the river bank using a hook crafted from a branch. Finally, they had to light a fire that would signal the extraction vehicle.
Competition between the three was neck-and-neck for much of the finale. But in the end, Darrin got his fire lit first thanks to his smart decision to use a pile of dried grass as tinder. That earned him a perfect 10 PSR, the $100,000 prize, and the coveted ‘Last One Standing” title.
“I am in shock,” Darrin said after his win. “I don’t even know where I pulled that strength from … I can’t believe what just happened.”
Cheeny Plante says Darrin ‘deserved’ his ‘Naked and Afraid’ win
After the finale aired, Cheeny took to Instagram to share her thoughts on season 3’s nail-biting conclusion.
“What a finale that was. so close. we all fought so hard to win,” she wrote. “Darrin definitely deserved it. I couldn’t have asked for two better guys to compete against in the end.”
Cheeny, who was competing in her second Last One Standing, added that she “had a lot of fun, and sometimes not so much fun” in season 3. “But I am glad I stuck it out and pushed hard to stay in the fight.”
She also hinted that Last One Standing Season 3 would be her last appearance on Naked and Afraid.
“I have done four challenges in the last four years and I am at 99 days. And I think that is a good number to end on, just shy of 100,” she wrote. “Thank you all for the love and support you’ve given me over the last few weeks. I am very proud of what I have accomplished and I don’t feel the need to go back for more. THANK YOU!”
