NBC Renews ‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Med,’ and ‘P.D.,’ But Changes Are Coming to One Chicago Shows
NBC is sticking with the Windy City. The network has renewed all three Chicago dramas, it announced Monday.
Chicago Fire Season 14, Chicago P.D. Season 13, and Chicago Med Season 11 will be back with new episodes in the 2025-26 broadcast season, NBC has revealed.
“The secret is out! one chicago is returning this fall on @nbc,” read a post on the One Chicago Instagram.
Cast changes are coming to ‘Chicago Fire’

It’s no big surprise that NBC has committed to more seasons of all three Dick Wolf dramas, which are among its most-watched shows on both broadcast and streaming. But there will be some changes for all three series, which might not sit well with fans.
According to Deadline, budget cuts mean that the upcoming seasons for all three shows will likely be slightly shorter than in the past. Another cost-saving measure involves cutting back the number of episodes in which each series regular cast member appears.
A more noticeable change has already been confirmed for Chicago Fire. Two cast members will not be back next season. Daniel Kyri, who plays Darren Ritter, and Jake Lockett, who plays Sam Carver, will both depart at the end of season 13. And more cast exits might be on the horizon for other One Chicago shows, Deadline reports.
Lockett reacted to his unexpected Chicago Fire exit in an April 28 Instagram post.
“While I don’t exactly know what the future looks like, I do know that it won’t be exactly what it was and I am going to miss the hell out of that. So much pride in this journey,” he wrote. “It’s been an honor bringing Sam to life and to every one of you, thank you for the love and support over the past three years.”
Cast changes are nothing new for the trio of first responder dramas, which have all experienced a number of high-profile goodbyes in the last few years, including Chicago Fire’s Eamonn Walker and Kara Killmer, Chicago P.D.’s Tracy Spiridakos, and Chicago Med’s Dominic Rains.
When do the ‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Chicago Med,’ and ‘Chicago P.D.’ finales air?
With the renewals in the bag, One Chicago fans can look forward to each show’s season finale. Season-ending episodes of Chicago Med Season 10, Chicago Fire Season 13, and Chicago Season 12 will air Wednesday, May 21 starting at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and will stream the next day on Peacock. Episode details haven’t been released, but fans can likely expect a dramatic sign-off for each show.
