Ne-Yo Said His ‘Mistakes’ During Marriage Led to His Polyamorous Relationship

After Ne-Yo’s marriage to Crystal Renay ended in 2023, he entered into a polyamorous relationship with four women. He said that polyamory has served him better than monogamy ever did. He admitted to making mistakes that led to the end of his marriage with Renay. 

Ne-Yo admitted he made mistakes during his marriage

Ne-Yo married Renay in 2016. In 2022, she filed for divorce, citing infidelity. He admitted he made mistakes in his marriage. 

“I’mma keep it a buck with you. I was married before this, to one woman,” he told streamer Kai Cenat (via People). “Things didn’t go well. I made my mistakes. We got divorced, a lot of people got hurt in the process, and I told myself at that moment I ain’t lying to nobody about nothing ever again.”

He feels that polyamory suits him well. He also said he demands on a policy of complete honesty, which Renay said he did not follow during their marriage. 

“8 years. 8 years of lies and deception,” Renay wrote in a post (per People), adding, “8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and my husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected…every last one of them!”

She said that his infidelity devastated her.

“To say I’m heartbroken and disgusted is a[n] understatement,” she added. “To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist. I will no longer lie to the public or pretend that this is something it isn’t. I choose me, I choose my happiness and health and my respect.”
