Ne-Yo Claims He’s Been ‘Canceled’ for His Polyamorous Relationship With 3 Women
Three years after his marriage to Crystal Renay ended, Ne-Yo is in a polyamorous relationship with three women. The singer said that while he is perfectly happy with this arrangement, the outside world doesn’t seem to approve. He believes that he has missed career opportunities because of his personal life.
Ne-Yo said people don’t approve of his polyamorous relationship
Ne-Yo currently lives with his partners, Arielle Hill, Cristina, and Moneii, and their children. He doesn’t think people approve of this.
“The world is mad at the fact that I’m in a polyamorous relationship,” he said on the Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast. “There are people upset.”
He claimed he has lost out on career opportunities because of this. Ne-Yo said he doesn’t understand why anyone cares about his personal life.
“There’s deals that I missed out on because they’re like, ‘We don’t know if we can get behind the whole polyamorous [thing],’” he said. “It’s almost like you can be a great person. You can show respect and appreciation, but the second you do something that they don’t agree with, canceled, you know what I mean? And that just doesn’t make any sense to me.”
He and his partners are all content, which he believes is the only thing that should matter.
“People say the dumbest stuff, like, ‘It’s degrading.’ Degrading to who?” he asked. “I’m not lying to nobody. Everybody is here by choice.”
He previously had a fourth partner.
Ne-Yo said he began his polyamorous relationship after his marriage ended
Ne-Yo decided to pursue a polyamorous relationship after his marriage to Renay ended. He said the painful process taught him that it was better to be honest with his partners than to have affairs behind their backs.
“I’mma keep it a buck with you. I was married before this, to one woman,” he told streamer Kai Cenat. “Things didn’t go well. I made my mistakes. We got divorced, a lot of people got hurt in the process, and I told myself at that moment I ain’t lying to nobody about nothing ever again.”
He said that they maintain a policy of honesty.
“If you with it, let’s rock. If you’re not, that’s cool too,” he said. “No love lost. You go your way and I go mine.’ That’s the only way it works.”
His ex-wife accused him of cheating
When Renay ended her marriage to Ne-Yo, she accused him of repeated incidents of infidelity.
“8 years. 8 years of lies and deception,” Renay wrote in a post (per People), adding, “8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and my husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected…every last one of them!”
While she noted that she wishes Ne-Yo nothing but the best, she had no intention of trying to make things work.
“To say I’m heartbroken and disgusted is a[n] understatement,” she added. “To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist. I will no longer lie to the public or pretend that this is something it isn’t. I choose me, I choose my happiness and health and my respect.”
She said that while she is happy the marriage brought her three children, it ultimately also brought her a lot of heartbreak.
