Ne-Yo Sued Over Alleged Dog Bite
Ne-Yo might have made headlines last year for his unique dating life, but now his legal life is being drawn into the spotlight. The R&B artist has been slapped with a lawsuit that claims his dog attacked a woman while she was simply trying to deliver a package. Now, the story is getting a bit complicated. A lawsuit against Ne-Yo has been filed
A woman named Dominique Bridgett filed a lawsuit against Ne-Yo after she claims she was attacked by a dog on the R&B artist’s property. According to the filing, obtained by TMZ, Bridgett alleges that she was delivering a package to Ne-Yo’s residence on July 12, when a dog kept at the property went after her.
Bridgett claims she suffered serious injuries that required medical attention. The lawsuit alleges that the attack left her with bodily injuries, lingering pain and emotional distress. She’s asking for Ne-Yo to cover her medical bills. She is also seeking additional damages. Ne-Yo has not issued a public statement since news of the lawsuit broke. It is unclear if the dog belongs directly to the R&B artist or another person at the residence.
Another celebrity dog attack led to a massive judgment
Ne-Yo is not the only celebrity who has found themselves in a legal standoff over an animal attack. In fact, there seems to have been a bit of an uptick in celebrity dog bite cases in recent years. Chris Brown, for example, was embroiled in a dog-related dispute, too. It seemingly wrapped up earlier this year, though the fight continues.
In June, a jury awarded Brown’s former housekeeper, Maria Avila, $13 million in damages after Brown’s dog attacked her in 2020. She was taking out the trash when the rapper’s Caucasian Shepherd attacked. The 200-lb dog left Avila with nerve damage, disfiguring injuries, and vision loss. Brown, who initially admitted negligence, disputed the former employee’s injuries and the seriousness of the attack. He is disputing the verdict.
What is Ne-Yo up to now?
The recently filed lawsuit certainly isn’t a good thing for Ne-Yo, but his 2026 has been pretty good so far. After making headlines in recent years for his polyamorous lifestyle, he has dived back into performing full force. He has been co-headlining a global tour, alongside Akon, that kicked off in Dublin in April. Their final show, in Inglewood, is set for August 21.
The tour, which marks the 20th anniversary of his debut album, “In My Own Words,” isn’t his only musical journey this year. Ne-Yo has also been working on a country-inspired project that blends his R&B sound with country melodies. The project was released just weeks ago.
As of print time, Ne-Yo has not publicly responded to Bridgett’s allegations, and the case is in its early stages. Whether the dispute heads toward a settlement or a courtroom battle will likely depend on what evidence emerges about the dog’s history and what precautions, if any, were in place at the time of the alleged attack.
