Attention cozy romance fans: Another must-watch show has just been added to Netflix

Karen Kingsbury’s A Thousand Tomorrows was added to the streaming service in early September. It quickly made it’s debut in the top 10. The six-episode show, which stars Colin Ford and Rose Reid, is a story of love and faith set in the high-stakes world of competitive rodeo. With its country charms and heartwarming vibes, it’s bound to appeal to fans of previous Netflix hits like Ransom Canyon, Virgin River, Sweet Magnolias, and Sullivan’s Crossing.

What Karen Kingsbury has said about ‘A Thousand Tomorrows’ Season 2

While A Thousand Tomorrows is new to Netflix, it’s not actually a new show. It debuted in 2023 on Great American PureFlix, a faith-focused streaming service. The series is based on a novel by best-selling author Karen Kingsbury. And yes, there’s a sequel to that book, which means there’s potential for more seasons, at least in theory.

“Setting the record straight: I actually never confirmed a Season 2 of A THOUSAND TOMORROWS … but … there is another book in the series,” Kingsbury wrote on Instagram after the show got a second wind on Netflix. “And now you’ve made Season 1 TOP 5 on @netflix! So, would you like to see a SEASON 2 of A Thousand Tomorrows?”

“Nothing to announce yet,” she wrote on September 9. “But my heart is filled at the possibility!”

We don’t yet know if we’ll get to see a followup to A Thousand Tomorrows. But there are several other shows out there that might scratch the same itch.

One is The Baxters. This three-season family drama premiered in 2024 on Prime Video. It’s based on a series of books by Kingsbury. The show follows the titular family as they lean on their faith and each other to navigate various challenges and personal upheavals.

Like A Thousand Tomorrows, the new series Crossroad Springs pairs faith-focused stories with a rural setting, following a Chicago pastor and his doctor sister who both step in to help their aging dad, who is danger of losing the family’s ranch. New episodes air weekly on Saturdays on Great American Family through October 4 and also stream on PureFlix.

Shaun Johnston plays the family patriarch in Crossroad Springs. It’s not dissimilar from his role in the long-running Canadian series Heartland, which also follows the ups and downs of ranching family. Sixteen seasons of Heartland are streaming on Netflix, with a season 17 set to arrive on the service on September 15. Episodes are also available on many other streaming platforms, including Hallmark+, The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, and Peacock. All episodes through season 18 are available on Up Faith & Family.

Ride was Hallmark Channel’s short-lived rodeo drama. The one-season series stars Nancy Travis as the matriarch of a Colorado ranching family trying to move forward after a devastating loss. All episodes are streaming on Hallmark+.
