Anna Wintour has chosen the person who will succeed her as Head of Editorial Content for American Vogue, and that person is Chloe Malle.

Wintour’s successor has been with the company since 2011. Prior to her promotion, Chloe had been the editor of Vogue.com and co-host of The Run-Through, Vogue’s weekly podcast. She is also the daughter of a well-known TV star.

Here’s more about Chloe Malle and who her famous mother is.

Who is Chloe Malle’s mother?

After tapping Chloe to head the American division of the fashion bible, Wintour said: “Chloe has proven often that she can find the balance between American Vogue’s long, singular history and its future on the front lines of the new. I am so excited to continue working with her.

“Chloe has long been one of Vogue’s secret weapons when it comes to tracking fashion. But she is not so buried in the industry that she misses the world: Like the best designers, she understands fashion’s big picture, its role shaping not just what’s on the runway but the changing fabric of modern life. Although she is no stranger to the glamour of red carpets, her talent has been for original thinking and hard work.”

Chloe was born on Nov. 8, 1985, to French director Louis Malle and award-winning actress Candice Bergen.

In 1987, Bergen moved with her daughter from New York City to Los Angeles for her role on the TV show Murphy Brown. The show ran for 10 seasons.

In 1995, Louis died of lymphoma at their Beverly Hills home. Five years later, Bergen and Chloe returned to the Big Apple, and Chloe attended the Riverdale Country School. She then studied comparative literature and writing at Brown University.

Bergen is also known for playing Shirley Schmidt on the ABC drama Boston Legal and has numerous other acting credits, including on Hollywood Wives, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, and The Michael J. Fox Show.

Fans may also remember Bergen for her role as Enid Frick on Sex and the City, in which she played the tough magazine editor at none other than Vogue.

There is an element of life imitating art here as Bergen’s daughter is now taking on the part in her real life that her mother played on TV.

Bergen’s character was introduced in Season 4 of Sex and the City as Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief when Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, was contracted to write a column for the magazine she called the “Mecca.”

A memorable exchange between the characters was in one scene when Frick says, “What does Carrie Bradshaw know about shoes,” to which Bradshaw tells her editor, “With all due respect, men I may not know, but shoes, shoes I know.”

Bergen also appeared in seasons 5 and 6 of the show, as well as the Sex and the City movie in 2008. She had a part in Season 2 of And Just Like That … as well.
