A long needle entered the top layer of skin and exited on the other side, making space for the piercing. Yet another photo shows the finished product on the opposite hand: a blue jewel anchored into the skin. The color of the jewelry matches North’s fingernail color, and she also has henna tattoos on the same hand. With this in mind, North may have multiple finger piercings.
Dermal piercings, also known as microdermal or single-point piercings, are a type of body modification where a small anchor is inserted just beneath the surface of the skin to hold a decorative top in place. Unlike traditional piercings, which pass through a hole in the skin, dermal piercings are anchored with a flat base that sits under the skin. And the visible jewelry protrudes above. The process typically involves cleaning the area, marking the placement, and then using a sterile needle or dermal punch to create a small pocket for the anchor. Healing can take several weeks, during which proper aftercare is crucial to prevent infection.

This isn’t the first time that fans noticed the finger piercing
North West’s finger piercing caused a stir in August 2025. The preteen was spotted leaving Pierluigi Restaurant in Rome with mom Kim Kardashian. She wore platform boots, a black corset with a detachable collar, and a dual-tone ruffled skirt. While her style received attention, it was her finger piercing that turned heads.
Fans on Reddit at the time commented on the piercing’s placement and noted that it would be incredibly hard to heal. They also noticed how the piercing looked fresh. If North had recently gotten her finger pierced at the time, that means she likely got her second piercing done just a few months later.

Kardashian later commented on how North loves henna tattoos and “fake piercings.” She claimed the piercings are glued on. With this in mind, there’s certainly a possibility that North’s finger piercings aren’t real — but the piercing photo itself was quite convincing.
Kardashian and her daughter also responded to backlash after North debuted fake face tattoos on TikTok with her friends. “This is such a non-issue,” Kardashian and North’s joint TikTok account commented, according to People.
