Who Is Norwegian Soccer Star Erling Haaland’s Girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen?
Erling Haaland is one of the most dominant soccer players in the sport today, and has become a global fan favorite. He’s recognized around the world not just for his record-breaking, goal-scoring with Manchester City and the Norway national team, but also for his charismatic, humorous, down-to-earth, and eccentric personality off the pitch.
After successful stints with Molde in Norway and Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, Haaland moved to Borussia Dortmund in Germany, where he continued to score at an astonishing rate. In 2022, he signed with Manchester City, and made history by setting Premier League scoring records and helping the club win multiple major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League and Premier League titles. Haaland has also become the centerpiece of Norway’s national team, and got to showcase his fun-loving personality to fans everywhere during the 2026 World Cup run.
Now, people want to know more about the athlete and his girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen.
How Haaland and Johansen met and who made the first move
Johansen was born on July 15, 2004, in Bryne, Norway. She and Haaland grew up in the same town and first met while playing for Bryne FK’s youth soccer system. But they did not start dating each other until around 2021.
In a 2025 YouTube video, Haaland said that he didn’t remember interacting with Johansen at the soccer club when they were kids.
“She remembers many times that she’s been seeing me when we were younger, but I don’t,” he shared.
Haaland has also said that Johansen is the one who made the first move and reached out to him, telling Goal.com, “She sent me a message … She was the one who checked me out.”
They enjoying play games together
Johansen no longer plays soccer herself, but is often seen supporting her man at his matches. According to Haaland, she does like to play something though these days.
The two enjoy playing games together. Video games, that is.
Haaland outed his girlfriend in an interview with Norwegian news outlet NRK, saying that he likes to cook so at home “I’ll make dinner,” before adding, “It’s going to be quite embarrassing for her that I say this, but she likes to ‘game,’ too. So we game Minecraft together. Then we just sit and game and make houses together and everything like that.”

Haaland and Johansen have one child together, welcoming a son in December 2024.
The Manchester City forward spoke to Sky Sports about how he’s changed since becoming a father.
“I’ve never felt better than now,” Haaland shared. “And to be honest, with a kid, it makes me even better because I actually disconnect more than ever. I don’t think of football at all, which sometimes, when you are younger, you think of this and that. You worry a little bit about things. But when I go home, I relax even more. I think I need to give a shout-out to my son.”
