As the pop star’s close friendship with Dakota Johnson has come to the forefront, the Gossip Girl star is reportedly widely affected by it. Insiders claimed that Lively finds her ex-pal’s brewing friendship with Johnson “torture.”
Swift and Lively’s friendship reportedly faced a major blow after her messy public legal battle against her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni. On the other hand, the pop star’s friendship with Johnson is taking over the internet.
The Fifty Shades of Grey actress starred in Swift’s latest music video for Patient Zero. Johnson was also invited to the Cruel Summer crooner’s wedding, where she reportedly hit it off with Machine Gun Kelly. Sources claimed that the rumored pair used Swift’s empty home to have some private time.
According to journalist Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice, sources revealed that Swift’s friendship with Johnson was not sitting well with Lively. The update came after the pop star was introduced as a “literal therapist” by the Verity star during her SNL monologue. Lively reportedly believes that Swift replaced her with the 37-year-old actress.
The insider said, “Blake was devastated watching it,” referring to the singer’s surprise appearance. “Taylor wasn’t just supporting Dakota privately. She walked onto that stage and showed millions of people how close they are. Blake couldn’t help wondering: Does Taylor know exactly how much this will hurt me?” the source added.
Lively was reportedly heavily affected by the situation, as she reportedly never got along with Johnson. The insider claimed, “They tolerated each other for Taylor,” referring to the time when they both were in Swift’s inner circle. “There was always tension. That’s why seeing Dakota apparently take Blake’s place feels particularly brutal,” the source added.
However, another source gave the situation a different spin. The insider claimed that Swift may not be sending any message to Lively with her actions. Moreover, they added, “Maybe she simply loves Dakota. Blake has to accept that Taylor’s life no longer revolves around their friendship.”
The source suggested that Lively can cope with her strained relationship with Swift. However, what she cannot cope with is seeing that the singer, who was once her closest pal, is “being completely fine without her.”
Shuter’s report came days after some other insiders suggested Lively could not believe her friendship with Swift was effectively over. According to Star, an insider claimed that the mother of three has not “moved past this in any way, shape, or form.” They further claimed that the actress was following everything Swift was doing. However, she was left in tears most of the time.
According to the source, Lively also believes that her friendship with Swift can be restored. The insider added, “She still has trouble believing things went from them talking every single day and calling each other sisters to just being cut out for life.”
Swift reportedly began maintaining her distance from Lively after she was dragged into the actress’ legal battle. The 39-year-old filed a s—– h——— case against Baldoni, claiming his misconduct on the sets of their movie. The legal case ended in a settlement but cost both parties a hefty sum.
