Canadian singer and TV host Keshia Chanté is expecting a baby. She shared the news on Oct. 6, surprising fans with the reveal that she is seven months pregnant with a baby boy. Chanté didn’t name the father, but many fans believe she left several clues in her announcement. It took almost no time for the internet to decide the father was Drake, though his rep denies it. Here’s everything that has happened since.

Inside Keshia Chanté’s pregnancy announcement

Chanté kept her pregnancy under wraps for seven months before going public. She posted a series of maternity photos on Instagram and spoke about the pregnancy in an interview with Hello! Canada. Fans flooded her comments with well-wishes and hunted for clues about the baby’s paternity.

Chanté was careful not to reveal who her partner is, but her comments make it clear the two are on good terms. She described him as brilliant and super creative, and said she hopes her son inherits his father’s mannerisms and “swag.” While she’s keeping his identity private, she indicated that they are together and that the decision to start a family was intentional. Her comments only fueled the speculation, but talk of Drake had started before Chanté ever opened up about her exciting new chapter.

Rumors that Drake was the father started before Keshia Chanté announced her pregnancy

Chanté’s announcement intensified speculation about her connection to Drake, but the rumors actually predate it. The gossip began on Lipstick Alley, where an anonymous poster claimed Chanté was pregnant by Drake and had recently done a maternity shoot at a castle.

Then came Chanté’s Instagram post, which seemed to confirm several of the details mentioned in the anonymous tip. In a message to her son, she wrote that Mommy and Daddy couldn’t wait to meet him and joked that Dad already had a studio locked in, with the baby’s debut album expected in summer 2027. She also tagged Casa Loma, the Toronto castle-turned-event venue that has been connected to Drake more than once.

The pair’s long history has also helped the speculation gain traction. Drake and Chanté dated as teenagers and have remained friendly in the years since. When he brought her onstage at his OVO Fest concert in 2022, Drake introduced her as “the first girlfriend I ever had in my life.” Many fans also believe Chanté is the “Kiki” in Drake’s 2018 smash “In My Feelings,” a connection that has followed both of them ever since, even though Drake has never confirmed who the lyric refers to.

Drake’s camp denies the rumors

Drake has always been fairly private about his personal life and family. He didn’t publicly acknowledge his son, Adonis, until 2018, and only after Pusha T revealed the child’s existence in a diss track. This time, his team moved quickly to shut the rumors down.
