Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had tumultuous moments throughout their married life. However, there also came a time when people around the beauty mogul realized that her marriage was not an ideal one. The incident included Kardashian being held at gunpoint in Africa.

The SKIMS founder brought the brutal truth behind her years-long marriage with West in her biography, Citizen Kim. Author Jonathan Van Meter described several incidents that had never been made public before. He interviewed Keeping Up With The Kardashians former executive producer Farnaz Farjam and learned about a mishap in Uganda.

According to the Mirror, Kardashian and West traveled to Uganda in 2018, and the rapper’s behavior rapidly changed during the trip. At one point, the I Wonder crooner was convinced that people were trying to drug him. His paranoia later worsened the situation.

Farjam shared that they were shooting at a remote location when West grew paranoid. “He basically got the local police to believe that there were people trying to drug him, and so they came, and they had guns out. He had them raid everybody’s rooms,” the executive producer revealed. She continued to share that the raid went too far when one of the police officers “had a gun to Kim’s head.”

As the situation grew “intense,” Farjam hired a private jet to get her crew out of Uganda. Despite the mishap, she “forgave Kanye.” Farjam attributed West’s behavior to his mental health struggles, describing him as being in a “manic place.”

The incident appeared to have marked the second time when Kardashian had a gun to her head. Kardashian was previously held at gunpoint during a 2016 robbery in Paris, when thieves stole millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry, including her engagement ring. She revealed that the robbers were dressed as policemen and forced their way into her room.

While Kardashian and West were together for a decade and married for eight years, they had several ups and downs. It was the reality TV star who filed for divorce and spoke up about his bipolar disorder. Even in her biography, Kardashian revealed how her marriage worsened over time.

According to Us Weekly, she shared that she had “big traumatic experiences” during her marriage. However, she learned how to deal with one issue and move on. She argued, “Maybe dealing is not the right word. It’s more like sweeping it away under the carpet.”

Despite repeating the same pattern, she felt guilty and wanted to ask Ye how she could make things better with him. She confessed that there were times when she was left embarrassed. The reason was that “certain things were said during psychotic breaks.” Kardashian noted that after going through a lot, she still tried to protect Ye and did not want anyone to find out about his mental health.

There came a point when Kardashian ultimately had to save herself from the issue. “When it starts to get to the place where it affects your health and your safety and your mental health, then you’re kind of like, ‘OK, who am I going to save here?’ I gotta save myself. You get to that place,” she shared.

The former couple’s divorce turned messy but was finalized in 2022. Years after their divorce, the two currently co-parent their four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
