Taylor Swift’s Surprise SNL Appearance Takes a Wild Turn After Dakota Johnson’s ‘Therapist’ Joke
Taylor Swift and Dakota Johnson gave friendship goals when the pop star crashed the actress’ Saturday Night Live opening monologue. The two ladies, who recently collaborated on Swift’s Patient Zero music video, share a close bond. They reflected on their relationship during the monologue when the actress revealed the pop star was her “therapist.”
According to Page Six, Johnson brought her funny side to host SNL for the third time. The actress, who recently starred in Verity, cracked jokes about her “two very public, very lame breakups with two very awesome musicians.” She revealed that she had a thing for musicians and noted that her friends were still supportive of her choices.
The Materialists star said, “Some of them don’t wear shoes, some of them are terrible in bed. All of them are in my DMs. Not my fault, though. Some people leave concerts with merch; I leave concerts with a two-and-a-half-year relationship.” Johnson added, “But I have really good friends. They don’t judge me for dating these men. They’re actually really supportive.”
Swift then walked onto the stage as the audience broke into cheers. A smiling Johnson then introduced the Cruel Summer crooner, saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, my literal therapist.” Swift soon hopped onto the comedy train as she joked, “I’m not your therapist, actually. You just show up at my house once a week with an empty bottle of wine and ask me if I want some.”
When Johnson argued she had manners, Swift noted that she “flops” on her couch and overshares about her life. “Every so often I just say, ‘Damn, that’s crazy.’ Then I go, ‘It’s late, I should really go to bed.’ And then you say…,” the Love Story crooner shared. Johnson soon interrupted her to say, “Sleepover yay!”
Swift then revealed the aftermath of the allegedly forced sleepover. She claimed she gave her a Pedialyte and asked her security to drop her off at home.
The two celebs’ fans were elated to see them joking around. One Instagram user noted, “Same, girl. Taylor Swift is also my therapist,” while another penned, “Tay Tay: the one and only therapist.”
Johnson continued to poke fun at her dating life, saying that she saved a lot of women’s money on antidepressants by dating musicians. She went on to say “you’re welcome” to America, England, parts of Ireland, and Cleveland. The actress referenced her rumored relationship with Machine Gun Kelly, who is a Cleveland native.
Swift again joined Johnson to celebrate her 37th birthday with a cake. The pop star marked her ninth-time appearance on the show.
According to TMZ, Johnson and Kelly hit it off at Swift’s July 3 wedding to Travis Kelce. Insiders claimed that the two knew each other, but it was the wedding when they bonded.
The previous news outlet revealed last month that the rumored pair was spotted visiting Swift’s Tribeca apartment in New York City. Photographers spotted them exiting a black SUV and walking inside the apartment together.
Insiders claimed that Swift was not at home at the time, as she was out of the city to support her husband during the NFL season. However, neither Johnson nor MGK officially confirmed whether they are dating or not.
