In April 2026, former Migos rapper Offset made headlines after getting shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida. Later, rapper Lil Tjay was arrested for disorderly conduct outside of the same casino. Lil Tjay denies any connection to the Offset shooting. However, the two stars have a known feud dating back to 2025. Here’s what to know.

Offset and Lil Tjay reportedly had a feud before Offset was shot in 2026

Migos co-founder Offset, real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus, and Lil Tjay, real name Tione Jayden Merritt, have had beef dating back to 2025. According to USA Today, their issues stem from an alleged $10,000 debt and a gambling addiction allegation.

Lil Tjay fired shots at Offset in January 2025. The online back-and-forth caused a stir, as Tjay claimed that Offset owed him $10,000 after he loaned the Migos rapper the money. Tjay later said that Offset “ducked” him to not pay back his debts.

“Why I diss Offset? Offset is broke,” he said during a Twitch livestream. He also claimed to have seen Offset “panicking” in a casino, trying to earn cash.

“Mind you, I’m 23, and this is ‘raindrop, drop-top,'” Tjay continued. “Cardi B husband … I’m only talking crazy because he was talking crazy. Like what? He want to talk crazy to me over my bread.”

All Hiphop notes that supposed leaked texts between Tjay and Offset show Tjay threatening to smack Offset over the owed money.

“U barely lived already who tf you think you talking too ninja,” Offset replied. “U gotta be talking to the wrong ninja. I’m in New York right now. Come smack me lil clown boy [sic].”

Tjay replied that he was in Miami at the time and just wanted his money back.

In March 2025, Tjay created an Instagram post calling Offset broke and claiming he’d never be like the rapper. Offset replied in the comments and challenged Tjay to a broadcast fight, even offering to fly to him. The fight never happened.

Lil Tjay was arrested and booked on Monday, April 6, 2025, for allegations including disorderly conduct and a capias-traffic charge in connection with driving without a valid license, according to Complex. Reports suggested that Tjay was “involved in a fight” before Offset was shot. However, Tjay’s lawyer released a statement in an attempt to clear Tjay of rumors regarding his involvement.

“We are issuing this release in regards to false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting which occurred at the Valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood which resulting in non-life threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos [sic],” the Instagram statement from criminal and entertainment attorney Dawn M. Florio reads.

“Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting,” the statement continues. “Any reporting to the contrary is false. We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the accuracy of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors.”
