Veronica Takes Over Olivia’s Villain Role in ‘Welcome to Plathville’ Season 7 — See the Trailer

On June 18, TLC dropped the first trailer for the new season of the reality series. Olivia – whose ongoing divorce from her ex Ethan Plath was a storyline in season 6 – barely appears in the clip. She only pops up at the end, where she’s seen having a tense conversation with Ethan. She’s also not mentioned in the TLC synopsis of the season. Nor does she appear in the cast photo.

Olivia’s absence in the upcoming episodes of Welcome to Plathville isn’t a surprise. She’s made it clear she wants nothing to do with her former husband and his family. She’s also said that she’s been trying to get out of her contract for the show. Now, it sounds like her wish has been granted.

Recently, the 27-year-old wedding photographer answered some fan questions on social media. One person wanted to know how much she would be in the upcoming season.

“Very little,” she wrote in the June 19 post on her Instagram Story.

“I’m really happy to move on in my life and find spaces/avenues/platforms that better align with my values, morals, and wants,” she said.

‘Welcome to Plathville’ Season 7 will be ‘the last’ for Olivia

Olivia added that not everything about appearing on Welcome to Plathville was bad. She was a major part of the first six seasons of the show, which premiered in 2019. But as her marriage crumbled and tensions with Ethan and the rest of his family increased, it was clear it was time for her to move on.

“I learned a lot through the process of the show and I give that experience and the people I met along the way a lot of credit in shaping who I am today,” she wrote. “But I’ve outgrown it.”

But of that growth involved more firmly rejecting her conservative Christian upbringing. As she embraced a more open-minded outlook on life, she realized she was out of step with Ethan and his family.

“With my present day insight and knowledge, I no longer want to help create any kind of platform for abuse or hateful and dangerous behavior,” she said.

“This will be the last season for me,” Olivia concluded. “But I am super excited for what is next.”

With Olivia out of the picture, it looks like another woman will be stepping into the Welcome to Plathville villain role. In the season 7 trailer, Veronica Peters, who is dating Ethan’s brother Micah Plath, clashes with multiple members of his family.

“If you want to be part of this family, this is the price you pay,” Ethan tells Veronica.

“I’m going to be honest,” she replies. “I don’t know if I want to be part of this family.”

Welcome to Plathville Season 7 premieres July 22 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
