6 Oscar-Nominated Movies You Can Stream on Netflix (Plus 5 That Were Snubbed)
The 2026 Oscar nominations are out!
Ryan Coogler’s hit Sinners received the most nods, with a record-breaking 16 nominations. Hot on its heels was One Battle After Another, with 13 nominations. Both movies are available to stream on HBO Max and helped make Warner Bros. the studio with the most nominations at this year’s Academy Awards – 30 in total.
How did Netflix fare? The streamer also made its mark on the list of nominees thanks to several well-received films. In total, Netflix movies received 18 nominatations, including two Best Picture nods. Here are all the 2026 Oscar nominees you can stream on Netflix.
‘Frankenstein’
Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is Netflix’s most-nominated movie at this year’s Oscars, with nine nominations. The lavish adaptation of the classic Mary Shelley novel is in the running for Best Picture. Jacob Elordi, who plays the creature, was nominated for Actor in a Supporting Role.
Frankenstein is also nominated for Cinematography, Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Production Design, Sound, and Adapted Screenplay.
‘Train Dreams’
Train Dreams, Clint Bentley’s meditative adaptation of Denis Johnson’s novella of the same name, is also nominated for Best Picture. It also received nominations for Cinematography, Best Song (“Train Dreams” by Nick Cave), and Adapted Screenplay.
‘Kpop Demon Hunters’
“Golden” from Netflix’s hit movie Kpop Demon Hunters is the first K-pop song nominated for an Oscar. The movie is also nominated in the Animated Feature Film category.
‘The Perfect Neighbor’
Relying mostly on police bodycam footage to tell its story, The Perfect Neighbor explores how a neighborhood dispute between an older white woman and local children of color in a Florida neighborhood turned deadly. With a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film.
‘All the Empty Rooms’
This powerful 30-minute documentary follows a journalist and photographer who set out to capture the bedrooms of children killed in school shootings across the United States. It’s nominated in the Documentary Short Film category.
‘The Singers’
Netflix subscribers can also watch The Singers, a live action short that was recently acquired by the streamer. Clocking in at just 17 minutes, this movie directed by Sam Davis is an adaptation of an Ivan Turgenev story about men who connect through a sing-off in a lowly pub. It’s nominated for Best Live Action Short Film.
Netflix’s 2026 Oscar snubs
The biggest Oscar snub of 2026 was Wicked: For Good, which received zero nominations, much to the shock of fans.
Another surprising shut-out for this year’s Academy Awards was Netflix’s Jay Kelly. There had been speculation that stars George Clooney and Adam Sandler might receive recognition in the acting categories, or that director-writer (and previous nominee) Noah Baumbach could be nominated for Best Original Screenplay.
Jay Kelly wasn’t the only Netflix movie snubbed at this year’s Oscars. Rian Johnson’s first two Knives Out movies earned screenplay nominations. But 2025’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery was ignored.
The Academy also wasn’t impressed with Richard Linkalater’s Nouvelle Vague, a tribute to the French New Wave classic Breathless, or with Kathryn Bigelow’s tense nuclear war thriller A House of Dynamite. Also missing the cut was the Taiwanese drama Left-Handed Girl. It was co-written by Anora director and Oscar winner Sean Baker and made the short-list for Best International Feature Film but ultimately did not get a nomination.
