Our Captain Is a Dad! — Fans React as Chris Evans and Alba Baptista Welcome Baby Girl
Captain America has a new job title: dad.
Chris Evans, 44, and his wife Alba Baptista, 28. have welcomed their first child. Their daughter, Alma Grace Baptista Evans, was born October 24 in Massachusetts.
Fans react to Chris Evans baby announcement
The baby news came as a shock to Evans’ fans, as the actor and his wife had not announced they were expecting. But once the news was out, the congratulations rolled in.
“OMG, Cap’s trading Thanos snaps for midnight feedings? Hero level: DAD MODE ACTIVATED! Congrats Chris & Alba – that tiny Avenger’s gonna assemble the cutest squad ever,” a Marvel fan wrote on X.
“Captain america? more like captain dad congrats to him,” another wrote.
“So happy for Chris, Alba, and their little girl! They’ve both talked about wanting to be parents and I hope it’s everything they’ve dreamed of,” one person wrote on Reddit.
Of course, some people were having adjusting to the idea that their internet boyfriend was now a father.
“Captain America is finally a daddy and the mother isn’t me,” one person wrote on X.
“Waking up to find out chris evans is a goddamn father I LOST TERRIBLY” another commented.
‘Captain America’ star ‘absolutely’ wanted kids
While Evans hasn’t commented publicly on becoming a father, the Red One star has previously spoken about his desire to start a family.
“I’m too old to be living out of a suitcase for six months and I’ve settled into a nicer phase where I’m just happy being at home,” he told People in 2022, prior to saying “I do” to Baptista. (The pair tied the knot in a low-key private ceremony in September 2023.)
The Marvel star was looking forward to settling down, he added.
“That’s absolutely something I want,” he shared. “Wife, kids, building a family. When you read about most of the best artists, whether it’s actors, painters, writers, most of them [admit] it wasn’t the work they made [that they are most proud of], it was about the relationships, the families they created, the love they found, the love they shared. So it’s also something through my long 41 years that also rings true. Those things are the most important. I love the idea of tradition and ceremony, I had a lot of that in my life so the idea of creating that, I can’t think of anything better.”
Parenting comes with many challenges, but Evans said he was actually looking forward to some of the more difficult moments.
“The tough questions, you know what I mean? I [asked] a lot of tough questions as a kid,” he said. “‘God made everything everything?’ ‘Is the color red to you the same as the color red to me?’ I was a high strung kid and emotional so I’m anticipating those questions to be loaded with a lot of anxiety. And I think [as a parent] not only can you give a good answer to the specific question, but the tools to navigate tough questions like that.”
