Pamela Anderson Shares the Backhanded ‘Compliment’ Women Keep Giving Her
Pamela Anderson’s public image has undergone a dramatic transformation over the past three decades. She’s transformed her image from sex symbol to punchline to feminist icon. Now, as Anderson sparks dating rumors with actor Liam Neeson, the author and activist shares what women tell her randomly on the streets.
Pamela Anderson appeared on ‘WWHL’ with Liam Neeson
Pamela Anderson recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to promote her recent action crime comedy film The Naked Gun alongside co-star Liam Neeson. The pair continued to spark romance rumors. They also discussed life in the spotlight with Cohen, who asked Anderson a great question.
The Bravo executive producer said, via Instagram, “Have you noticed, Pamela, a difference in the way that people approach you since the doc and the book came out?”
The 58-year-old responded, “Yeah. I’ve actually had some funny experiences. I’ve had women come up, like walking on the street. Someone will walk past me and then turn around and come and [say], ‘I just have to come and tell you that I used to hate you, and now I love you.'”
The model laughed and explained how off-putting this was. “I’d be like, ‘I think there’s a compliment in there,’ she stated. “‘I didn’t like you before, but now I like you.’ And I say, ‘Thank you very much.'”
Cohen was flustered as he tried to ask another question before pausing. “I mean, I don’t like it that someone would say, ‘I used to hate you,'” he stammered. “I mean, hate is a very strong word.”
“Well, who knows,” The Last Showgirl star replied. “I’ve made a lot of crazy mistakes in my life, like everybody.” After many years of scandal and scrutiny, the Canadian actor takes these moments in stride.
Pamela Anderson changed the narrative in 2023
Both Pamela Anderson’s book and documentary received widespread praise for their vulnerability, honesty, and emotional depth. Despite the bold reactions from numerous women who’ve approached Anderson, many connected with Anderson’s story of reclaiming her identity and pushing back against a culture that objectified and ridiculed her for decades.
The Netflix documentary, Pamela, A Love Story, was released on January 31, 2023. It gives an intimate, unfiltered look into Anderson’s home videos, childhood footage, family moments, and handwritten journals. Fans appreciated learning the truth about her time on Baywatch, her high-profile relationship with Tommy Lee, and the fallout of their unauthorized sex tape.
Anderson’s book, Love, Pamela, was published on the same day as her documentary. In the memoir, Anderson reflects on everything from her traumatic childhood to superstardom and motherhood. She proudly stated that no ghostwriters participated in the tell-all, making it an extra-special representation of her inner voice.
In addition to revamping her image, Anderson might be overhauling her love life. Multiple outlets cite sources who claim she’s currently dating Neeson. However, some fans believe the co-stars are faking their chemistry to drum up interest in their new film — a common PR tactic we’ve seen before.
