Prince Harry Was Trying Too Hard to Look Comfortable During Nottingham Outing
People are still talking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s visit to Nottingham. On Oct. 15, the pair traveled to Nottingham, England, for engagements linked to their charity work. They received a warm reception from the crowd as they arrived at a community recording studio and stopped to greet fans and well-wishers.
Their trip has been labeled as a very successful step in their public comeback. Now, an expert who analyzed footage from that day noticed Prince Harry doing a bit of acting. Here’s more on that.
Speaking on behalf of social casino ACE.com, body language expert and behavioral scientist Dr. Abbie Maroño told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that there were differences in Meghan and Harry’s individual demeanors. She described Meghan as an exceptionally animated communicator with pronounced facial expressions and gestures, while Harry is typically more reserved particularly around the press and public.
“In one particularly awkward interaction, [Harry] even reached out and touched someone’s chin, an unusually familiar gesture for someone who is generally much more restrained,” Dr. Maroño pointed out. “This contrast is interesting because increased animation doesn’t necessarily indicate greater comfort.
“It can also reflect an effort to appear enthusiastic, approachable, and at ease. Some of Harry’s interactions appeared unusually deliberate, suggesting he may have been working harder to project warmth and confidence rather than simply behaving naturally.”
Dr. Maroño also described a subtle sense of heightened awareness, particularly from Harry, rather than necessarily increased guardedness.
“His protective positioning suggested he was attentive to Meghan and their surroundings, while his unusually enthusiastic interactions gave the impression that he was also conscious of how the couple were being perceived,” she explained. “Rather than withdrawing or appearing defensive, he seemed to be actively managing the atmosphere around them.”
Dr. Maroño added that the couple presented a largely united front with Harry appearing protective of Meghan through his physical closeness and frequent affectionate gestures. However, the expert noted that holding hands and Harry leading the way were typical of their usual relationship dynamic.
“The awkwardness was more apparent in their movements together. Harry frequently took the lead, but Meghan appeared less fluid than usual as she followed,” she said. “Rather than their usual effortless coordination, there were moments when Meghan appeared to be adjusting to Harry’s movements rather than moving naturally alongside him.
“This gave their interactions a slightly less relaxed quality, despite the continued physical affection.”
