Sunjay Kapur, a friend of Prince William, has died following a tragic incident involving a bee.

Kapur, 53, died Thursday after he swallowed a bee, according to reports in the U.K. media. The chairman of Sona Comstar, a global car parts company, was competing with the Aureus Polo Team in a match in the Cartier Queen’s Cup tournament in Windsor when a bee stung him in his mouth. The bee sting may have triggered anaphylactic shock and a heart attack, leading to Kapur’s death.

An avid polo enthusiast, Kapur sometimes played with Prince William and other members of the British royal family. (Members of the royal family also regularly attend the annual Queen’s Cup tournament.) In 2010, his then-wife, Bollywood star Karisma Kappor, claimed in a domestic violence filing that he abandoned his sick four-month-old son in India to travel to the U.K. to play polo with Price William.

Kapur’s marriage to Kappor lasted from 2003 to 2016. They had two children. After his divorce, he went on to wed model Priya Sachdev, with whom he has a son. Forbes estimated his net worth at $1.2 billion.

“We are deeply saddened by the sudden demise of our Chairman, Mr Sunjay Kapur,” Sona Comstar said in a statement (via People). “He was a visionary leader whose passion, insight and dedication shaped the identity and success of our company.”
