We all know the story. Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William, and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) were once known as the Fab Four. Royal fans thought the foursome were going to use their platforms and global popularity to bring awareness and help the causes close to their hearts.

But just 18 months after Harry and Meghan tied the knot, the duke and duchess announced that they were stepping down from their royal duties and moving to America. What no one expected was the verbal grenades that were fired from Montecito as it seemed like the Sussexes were hell-bent on bringing down the monarchy.

The couple aired out the royals’ alleged dirty laundry to the highest bidder in bombshell interviews, an explosive book, and a tell-all Netflix special. Family members, including William and Kate, could do little to defend themselves against the Sussexes’ attacks as they adhere to the old “never complain, never explain” mantra. But the battle lines were drawn.

Friends of the Waleses then broke their silence, saying that Prince William “feels utterly betrayed … he hates Harry for what he has done to the family in the books and interviews … it’s no secret he would prefer it if Harry never stepped foot in England again.”

But to everyone’s surprise, Meghan and Harry did return to England six years after quitting their royal duties. And to no one’s surprise, William and Kate haven’t given them a warm welcome. It’s been reported that the Waleses haven’t seen the Sussexes and plan to keep it that way. However, Harry and Meghan have other ideas.

According to Express, a source said the duke and duchess now want to apologize for Meghan’s claims and the hurt they caused, telling the publication, “Harry and Meghan have always known since they decided to return to the U.K. that they would need to eat humble pie. Their one big regret about leaving the royal family for the U.S. was their interview with Oprah, and Meghan knows her biggest mistake was her claim that a royal family member had discussed Archie’s skin color.

“Harry was angry with his family at the time, and backed Meghan up, but they now realise what a low blow it was. They both know they’re hot-headed and realize they took things too far, and they should have kept quiet. They want to focus on the future and are hoping that will include a reconciliation at some point. They really want a sit-down so they can address what they said, and Meghan will apologize.”

The source added that the Sussexes are “feeling optimistic about being back in the U.K.” and are also hopeful their children will eventually connect with their cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Princess Louis, and become friends.

The brothers and their wives haven’t spoken since 2022, but now that they’re on U.K. soil together again, we’ll have to wait and see if they’re able to reconcile.
