What’s Next for Reece Weaver and Her Husband, Will Allman, After She Quit DCC and ‘America’s Sweethearts’?
Reece Weaver is moving on.
In the third season of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, the fan-favorite DCC squad member announced that she was leaving the team. The move stunned viewers, who wondered what was behind the choise, and what was next for the powerhouse dancer.
Reece wrestled with the decision to leave DCC
Reece, 24, spent three years cheering on the Cowboys at their games, as well as starring in Netflix’s hit reality series about the country’s most iconic group of pom-pom shakers. But she felt it was time to move on,
“I’d actually been wrestling with this decision since the start of my third year. My cup was just filled to the absolute brim, and I was in a place — I still am in that same place — of sincere gratitude. With a lot of just prayer and counseling, I just felt led, that I was being called to take a leap of faith,” she explained to Netflix’s Tudum.
Leaving DCC and America’s Sweethearts frees Reece to explore other passions – including writing a book – and career opportunities.
“During the off-season, I was really able to say yes to a lot of opportunities that I usually have to say no to because we’re in season,” she explained. The more I considered new opportunities that were so graciously coming in, I think my heart was ready to move on to the next phase of life.”
Reece also mentioned the “constant pressure” that comes with social media, including instant criticism and negative feedback after every game or performance.
What’s next for the ‘America’s Sweethearts’ star?
The Florida native also wanted to spend more time with her husband, Will Allman. The pair wed in 2024, shortly before America’s Sweethearts premiered on Netflix and made Reece an instant star. Soon after, Will quit his job to focus on managing his wife’s career. But that move sometimes made their marriage feel more like a “business partnership,” he confessed this season.
Now that her days are no longer filled with practices and filming for reality TV, Reece and Will have time to concentrate on their relationship. The couple has already left Texas and moved back to Alabama, where they’re “a lot closer to family,” she said. (Reece and Will met while in college at the University of Alabama.)
In addition to working on her book and pursuing other opportunities, Reece has said she hopes to get back to her dance roots.
“I actually grew up a studio dancer. I was more on the conservatory track on dance … I really miss my upbringing in dance,” she said. One of my dreams has been to be on Broadway. I don’t know if that’s ever going to actually happen, but I would love to at least go back to the kind of dancing I grew up with.”
Whatever the future holds, Reece is looking forward to it. Some fans have speculated online about her DCC exit, wondering if she’s leaving due to an injury she experienced last season or if Will pressured her to give up cheering. But she says that’s all noise and that she’s confident in her choice to move on.
“There are a lot of opinions out there that people are going to say about us, but we know not everyone’s going to understand,” Reece told People. “And that’s really a hard concept to grasp, but we know that we have each other and we have a really great support system around us.”
