Reese Witherspoon enjoyed a romantic moment with her rumored boyfriend, Oliver Haarmann, in Saint-Tropez over the weekend.
The Big Little Lies and The Morning Show star was spotted getting cozy with Haarmann, a German financier, on July 13 (via People). The duo indulged in some PDA while on a yacht at the luxurious French vacation destination.
Witherspoon, 49, and Haarmann, 57, were first linked in 2024, though neither has officially confirmed their romance. The actor and producers split from her husband, entertainment executive Jim Toth, in 2023. They have one son together. She was previously married to Ryan Phillippe, with whom she shares two children.
Who is Oliver Haarmann?
Witherspoon’s new boyfriend doesn’t come from the world of Hollywood or entertainment. Instead, he’s built a career as a private equity financier. Haarmann is a founding partner of Searchlight Capital Partners, according to his bio on the firm’s website. Previously, he was a senior partner at KKR & Co L.P. in London, where he helped build its European business from a start-up into one of Europe’s leading private equity firms. He has a bachelor’s degree in international relations and history from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard. Haarmann, who is from Germany, is also a minority owner of the NHL’s New York Islanders.
Haarmann occasionally shares his business and financial expertise with news outlets. Last year, he spoke with Bloomberg about challenges and opportunities in private equity in a higher-interest-rate environment.

For Witherspoon, the fact that Haarmann isn’t closely connected to the entertainment industry is a plus.
“Reese loves that he’s a businessman and not into Hollywood,” an insider told People.
Like his Oscar-winning girlfriend, Haarmann is also divorced. He and his former wife, Mala Gaonkar, have two kids.
Last year, a source told People that Witherspoon was keeping things casual with Haarmann.
“She enjoys it but doesn’t want it to be a big focus. She’s busy with work and her son,” the insider said. “These are her biggest priorities.”
Now, it sounds like the pair is considering taking their relationship to the next level. A few months ago, Witherspoon and Haarmann were reportedly considering buying a unit in a luxury Manhattan apartment building.
“An engagement might be in their future,” a source told OK. “Reese is telling pals that she never thought she’d be twice divorced, but being married again is definitely something she would consider.”
