Appleton went on to call North “gorgeous” and note that the child “knows what she likes.”

“She’s so sweet,” the hairstylist continued. “But, yes. It’s fun.”

Twelve-year-old North West recently turned heads with a striking blue hair transformation that marked a major moment in her evolving style identity. Debuting the look in Rome alongside her mom, Kim Kardashian, North showcased long, ombré blue locks. They ranged from greenish-blue at the roots down to rich cobalt tips. She styled them into low pigtails that added a dramatic, youthful edge.

The new hue, reminiscent of her aunt Kylie Jenner’s iconic “King Kylie” era, appeared in a viral TikTok. North lip-synched with friends to “If Looks Could Kill” by Destroy Lonely while confidently owning the vivid shade, according to E! News. This daring move received plenty of attention, with some social media users debating the maturity of her aesthetic, while others praised the rebellious preteen energy it exuded.

While fans have been critical of what Kardashian allows her pre-teen daughter to wear in public, many fans on Reddit liked North’s hair paired with her all-denim look in Rome.

North West’s current blue hair is far from her wildest look. In early 2023, North delighted fans with multi-toned braids featuring soft cotton candy pink and darker shades of pink throughout, according to The U.S. Sun. North paired the look with pink sunglasses, pink makeup, and a light pink and orange shirt, giving her a 2000s vibe. She also donned acid-wash cargo pants and pink sneakers.

Kim Kardashian has previously given North credit for her fashionable eye. “She’s a big critiquer, but it’s pretty good, you know, her critiquing,” Kardashian said in 2025 while speaking about the Met Gala, according to People. “But you know, just be yourself, right? She’s … also, I think, in a really positive place, like vibe, right now, where it’s just like, ‘Hey, even if that’s not my style, I’m not going to critique that because just be you and if you like that then that’s what you should be into.'”
