‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ star Melissa Gorga opened up about her first serious car accident
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga opened up on Instagram about her first-ever major car crash. She spoke candidly in a video about a car T-boning hers while she pulled out of a dry cleaner in New Jersey on June 26, 2025. The sudden collision deployed her airbags, showering the cabin in powder and leaving her trapped inside with visible bruises on her legs.
“I got in a car accident today — first time that I’ve ever been in an accident like this before,” Melissa explained. I’ve never in my life been in this bad of an accident.”
She then went into detail about the car hitting her. “My airbags exploded; white powder started flying into my face from the airbags; car was leaking something,” she continued. “I was so nervous, I couldn’t get out. I was in shock. My door wouldn’t open because of the airbag. I was scared that it was going to blow up — I was really scared that it was going to turn on fire, because you know when you drive down the road and you see cars on fire. So, I was having a panic attack in my car.”
Thankfully, Melissa is “OK,” as is the other driver who hit her. However, she walked away with several bruises.
“My legs are all bruised up,” she said as she pans the camera to her legs, explaining how she’s bruised “everywhere.”
Melissa Gorga said her car is totaled from the ‘really scary day’
During the Instagram video, RHONJ star Melissa Gorga noted that she can’t salvage her car from the accident.
“So, bottom line is, you just never know what your day is gonna consist of,” she continued. “Like, I never in a million years thought I was going to meet my girlfriends from lunch, stop at the dry cleaner, and then have a totaled car, literally, and get into something that could have been really scary. And I think about my kids when this happens, and it could just happen to anyone at any time. And it’s just a really scary day.”
Melissa noted that she still feels “shaky” from the accident, but she feels grateful to walk away. “I just think it … makes you count your blessings,” she said. “It could’ve ended up very differently, right? So, instead of being upset that I’m bruised up, and I’m annoyed, and my car’s wrecked, I’m gonna be happy that I’m alive and that I came home to my kids tonight. And I literally said that to them.”

Melissa Gorga’s Real Housewives of New Jersey co-stars commented on her post about the accident.

RHONJ fans are hopeful they’ll see Melissa on a future season of the show. Given the clues fans received so far, it doesn’t look like the show will return until 2026 at the earliest.
