Karen Huger didn’t want to face the truth after her headline-making arrest on DUI charges.

In a candid interview with Andy Cohen, The Real Housewives of Potomac star opens up about her “cloudy” thought process after she crashed her Maserati in a single-vehicle accident in Potomac, Maryland, in March 2024. The interview will air as part of the RHOP Season 10 finale on February 1.

During her sit-down with the Housewives producer, Karen admits that her issues with alcohol and drugs affected how she approached her situation after her arrest.

“I didn’t even watch that film,” Karen tells the Watch What Happens Live host in a new clip from the upcoming episode. “So I couldn’t relate to what my lawyers were telling me.”

The Bravo star’s attorneys were urging her to admit to wrongdoing and “take a plea deal because the video is going to nail you.”

But Karen didn’t want to do that.

“I was still in denial and still under the influence,” she says.

“Under the influence of what?” Cohen asks.

“Prescriptive drugs and drink. Alcohol,” the Grande Dame replies.

‘RHOP’ star denies she turned down a plea deal

While Karen’s lawyers had hoped to get her a plea deal, their efforts were unsuccessful. And when Cohen asked her about a rumor that she’d turned down a deal that would have involved house arrest rather than jail time, she denied it.

“Not true,” she said.

Karen also spoke about how she felt when she did finally watch the video, which shows her refusing a field sobriety test, admitting that she’s “lit,” and asking an officer, “Do you know who I am?”

“When I was in rehab was when the therapist, my therapist, sat with me to watch it,” she shares, adding that her therapist told her she had to “face” the reality of what had happened.

Only after watching the bodycam footage did Karen accept what she’d done.

“I was blown away,” she said. “I understood the sentence.”

In February 2025, Karen was sentenced to two years in jail (with one year suspended) plus five years probation. In September 2025, she was released after serving six months. During her conversation with Cohen, the 62-year-old admits she might have avoided time behind bars if she’d listened to her lawyers.

“It was preventable,” she says. “But let’s not underestimate the power of drugs and alcohol.”

The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 10 finale airs Sunday, February 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. It streams the next day on Peacock.
