Mary Cosby’s son opened up about his struggles on ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’
Robert Jr. faced addiction and legal issues in the years before his death. He was arrested in 2022 for a DUI. In late November 2025, he pleaded guilty to assault and trespassing charges stemming from an incident with his estranged wife and father-in-law. He was released from jail earlier in February after serving two months.
Mary’s only child appeared occasionally on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alongside his mother and father, Robert Cosby Sr. In a season 5 episode, he opened up about his drug use and suicidal ideation, telling his mother she was “the only reason I didn’t kill myself.”
“You have to know I love you more than anything, more than anything in this world,” Mary replied. “I think I love you more than dad — don’t ever tell I said that. But you’re my friend, you’re my son, you’re my gift. God gave you to me. You’re the only thing that ever made me happy. Before I had you I was never happy. You came, and you were so real. You was everything I hoped her in a person.”
