As it turns out, Riley Burruss and Ariana Biermann’s friendship is as complicated as their mothers’. While they have a relationship with deep roots, it has even deeper complications. The daughters of Real Housewives of Atlanta alums Kandi Burruss and Kim Zolciak were childhood besties before their mothers’ public falling out. Now reunited as adult castmates on a show of their own, things aren’t running smoothly. Rumor has it the formerly fast friends are no longer speaking.

Riley Burruss and Ariana Biermann’s reunion started out well enough. Ahead of the premiere of Next Gen NYC, the pals told People that they reconnected and instantly fell back into an easy friendship when they began filming. They even claimed they wanted to “parent trap” their moms, Kandi and Kim, into rekindling their own friendship. Biermann was on board with all of that, and things seemed really good between the pals until season 2 of Next Gen NYC.
During season 2 of the series, Burruss found herself embattled with Georgia McCann, a fight that led to a blowup during a drunken night out. During the melee, Burruss accused McCann of drug use, mocked her finances, and threatened her. Things devolved quickly with McCann suggesting Burruss is a problem drinker.
After the dustup, Burruss took her anger out on Biermann, revealing that she feels like her “best friend” didn’t have her back the way she should have. Burruss accused Biermann of failing to step in when she realized the situation was escalating. Burruss later issued a roundabout apology to McCann, but had little to say to Biermann. The two have not spoken in recent months. Neither has apologized to the other.
Kandi Burruss and Kim Zolciak’s drama was more business-related
While Riley Burruss and Ariana Biermann’s drama seems to be following a similar trajectory as their mothers’, the reason things fell apart couldn’t be more different. While Riley and Ariana’s falling out is all about their friendship, their mothers’ drama is more business-minded.
Kandi and Kim’s relationship turned sour after their time together on The Real Housewives of Atlanta and devolved into a 2013 copyright lawsuit over the song “Tardy for the Party.” Things grew tenser with Kandi accusing Kim of stealing her baby name. While they claim to have cleared up the baby name drama, their friendship never recovered.
