Their sudden and violent deaths have shocked Hollywood and drawn condolences from the entertainment and political communities.

Rob and Singer had three children: Jake Reiner, Nick Reiner, and Romy Reiner.

Jake, born in 1991, is the eldest son of the acclaimed filmmaker and producer. Unlike many children of Hollywood figures who pursue careers exclusively on screen, Jake initially built a diverse professional path that included television news reporting, according to Newsweek. He worked as a general assignment reporter, sports reporter, and anchor at stations such as KION, KPRC in Houston, and KCBS in Los Angeles. Jake shifted his focus back toward entertainment and acting in recent years.

In addition to his journalism background, Jake has appeared in television series, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, according to Parade. He also took on roles behind the camera. These included executive producing and starring in new projects, like Things Like This. Additionally, Jake creates comedy sketches and content for digital platforms. He appeared in Love & Taxe$, cementing his emerging presence as a multi-faceted performer in the industry.

Romy Reiner, born in 1997, is the couple’s youngest daughter. She grew up largely out of the Hollywood spotlight. However, she occasionally appeared alongside her father at public events and on social media.

In December 2025, Romy was reported to have been the family member who discovered her parents’ bodies in their Los Angeles home amid an ongoing homicide investigation into their deaths, according to People.

Nick Reiner spoke openly about his troubled past

Nick Reiner, born in 1993, is the middle child of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner. He’s known both for his creative work and his public struggles with substance abuse.

Nick has been open about his long battle with addiction. It began in his teens and led to numerous stays in rehab and periods of homelessness across multiple U.S. states. He drew on these experiences when he co‑wrote the screenplay for the 2015 semi‑autobiographical film Being Charlie. Directed by his father, the drama is loosely based on his recovery and its impact on their family. In interviews around Being Charlie, Nick acknowledged that the project helped him and his father grow closer after earlier challenges.

In December 2025, amid a highly publicized investigation into the deaths of Rob and Singer in their Los Angeles home, multiple sources reported that Los Angeles authorities had arrested Nick, who is being held on $4 million bail, according to People. The LA Sheriff’s Department notes online that he is charged with a felony, but did not provide further details as of publication.

Rob Reiner’s adopted daughter, Tracy Reiner, spoke out after his death

Tracy Reiner, born Tracy Henry in 1964, is the adopted daughter of filmmaker Rob Reiner from his marriage to Penny Marshall. Originally born to Marshall and her first husband, Michael Henry, Tracy took on her adoptive father’s surname after Reiner legally adopted her when he and Marshall married in 1971. She built a long career in film and television, appearing in movies such as A League of Their Own, When Harry Met Sally…, Apollo 13, Die Hard, and The Flamingo Kid, often working on projects tied to her extended Hollywood family.

Tracy reportedly saw Rob the day before his death. “I came from the greatest family ever,” she told NBC News. “I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”
