‘Can’t Wait’: Meghan Markle Is Heading to Australia After Making a Bombshell Statement About Her Unexpected TV Comeback
Meghan Markle is heading back to Australian TV in 2027. The Duchess of Sussex will appear on Junior MasterChef Australia as a special guest alongside host Poh Ling Yeow. Paramount Australia and New Zealand confirmed the news on October 27. Earlier reports from news.com.au claimed that Markle would host the upcoming season.
However, People confirmed that she’ll make a guest appearance instead. “I had an incredible time with the whole team at MasterChef this past April, so when they approached me to come back and work with this young group of talent, it was an easy yes,” Markle shared in the official press release.
“I love cooking with my own kids, so seeing what these young stars create in the kitchen is going to be a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see what they cook up!” she added. Markle will spend a few weeks in Australia filming her appearance. But Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, won’t reportedly move there with her.
The show will return to Network 10 in 2027. Producers haven’t announced the premiere date or Markle’s filming schedule yet. This won’t be Markle’s first time on MasterChef Australia. She appeared as a guest judge during her April visit. The episode aired on July 26, 2026.
Markle mentored contestants alongside Yeow, Sofia Levin, and Jean-Christophe Novelli. Her appearance surprised the cooks, who had no idea she’d be joining them. Yeow later spoke to 10 News about their reaction.
“The reaction from the contestants was exactly what we wanted. They were in total shock, everyone’s jaws were on the ground. In their wildest dreams, they would not have expected this, so it was very joyous for us to watch,” Yeow said. Now, Markle and Yeow are set to reunite for the junior competition. Yeow is also happy to see the show return after a six-year break.
“I’m thrilled to bits that Junior MasterChef is returning to our screens. People often ask me whether it might come back, so I know the news will be met with plenty of excitement,” Yeow said in the October 27 announcement. She also shared how she feels about working with Markle again. “I had a lovely time filming with Meghan earlier this year, and being reunited will be a real treat,” Yeow continued.
“I can’t wait to meet our pint-sized culinary adventurers – I’m expecting plenty of delicious surprises and a little mischief, too.” Markle has also done a few food-related TV projects. Her Netflix show With Love, Meghan featured recipes, home cooking, and entertaining.
She also appeared as a guest judge on Food Network’s Chopped Junior in 2016. Her acting career has been back in the news, too. In August, reports linked Markle to Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen. But the role never worked out.
According to Variety, Markle filmed a cameo in the upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends in November 2025. Markle is best known for playing Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits. She starred in the show from 2011 to 2018. Her other film credits include Remember Me, Horrible Bosses, and Hallmark’s Dater’s Handbook.
Before Suits, Markle appeared in several TV shows and movies, mostly in smaller roles. Her early credits include General Hospital, Century City, and CSI: NY. She also worked as a briefcase model on the game show Deal or No Deal from 2006 to 2007.
