Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s royal exile may not be quite as lonely as it sounds. Sources told News Nation that the former Prince has been seeing “a (local) woman in Norfolk.” 

It is a convenient arrangement, given he now lives at Marsh Farm on King Charles’ Sandringham estate. Meanwhile, royal biographer Andrew Lownie stated that the disgraced royal has been travelling around Europe. According to Lownie, he may even have gone house-hunting in France. 

“He still thinks he’s a hotshot businessman,” Lownie said. “The papers have actually covered him going to Brittany. I’d heard that he’d gone to the south of France and was actually looking to buy property there, which doesn’t suggest that he’s worried about going to prison. There’s stories of him going to Switzerland, even going to the Middle East.”

Lownie added, “He’s got his passport still. He can nip out the back door at Marsh Farm and be driven to the local airport and stuck on a private jet. So I don’t think we should feel too sorry for him.” According to The Guardian, Charles had started a “formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,” in October 2025.

The Palace said Andrew would leave Royal Lodge and move to “alternative private accommodation.” But he was never under house arrest or banned from travelling. Lownie thinks the royal family’s public stance tells a different story.

“It suits the purposes of the royal family to suggest that he’s under house arrest, that they’re giving him a hard time, they’re distancing themselves because of the reputational damage,” he said. “But I think behind the scenes, it’s still a pretty cozy relationship.”

Lownie claimed Andrew has even been “smuggled out of the house” to secretly visit his siblings. “It’s business as usual, I think,” he added. Lownie said Andrew feels betrayed by relatives and believes they have shown him “the disloyalty” after “all he did for them.”

His relationship with Princess Eugenie has turned sour, too. “Eugenie is still very cross with him, I think, and he’s very cross with her,” he continued. Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, has pushed for distance as well. “[He] has been quite tough… about the need to keep away from Andrew and indeed Sarah Ferguson and preserve their own small family unit,” Lownie said. 

Lownie didn’t even know whether Andrew had visited Eugenie’s new baby daughter, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. She was born on August 3. However, Beatrice had taken a softer approach, according to him. 

She is “much more prepared to go along with him” and is “very much more under the thumb of Sarah Ferguson.” This is because Lownie suggested Beatrice and Eugenie could be “nervous about losing their royal accommodation. They’re nervous about the titles being taken away.” 

Andrew once also pushed for taxpayer-funded protection for his daughters when there was “no threat to them,” as per Lownie. “It was all about status.” Lownie sees the same pattern in Prince Harry’s battle for British taxpayer-funded security. 

“I think Harry’s playing the same game,” he shared. “This is all about bigging himself up rather than actually a real threat. Talking to some of the policemen involved, they just don’t think that he is as vulnerable as he suggests.” Now, as for Andrew, his supposed exile appears to come with a few escape routes.
