Meghan Markle reportedly wants peace with Kate Middleton. But she won’t “bow” to the future Queen to get it. “Meghan is prepared to be civil, and she recognizes that rebuilding a relationship with Kate would make life enormously easier for everyone,” a palace source told Radar Online.

They added, “What she will not do is arrive back in Britain, bow her head, and accept that everything that went wrong was somehow her fault. In Markle’s mind, reconciliation has to involve movement and acknowledgment from both sides.”

The Duchess of Sussex is back in Britain with Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, after six years in California. It has brought old tensions back. Now, questions remain about how long they could stay in Britain. Also, what could it mean for Prince William and Middleton?

According to insiders, Markle wants to fix things with her. “Meghan has reached a point where she is simply not prepared to grovel to anybody to be accepted back into the royal fold – and Kate is no exception,” they claimed.

The insider added, “She may genuinely want the hostility between them to end, particularly now that they are living in the same country again, but she doesn’t believe reconciliation should require her to take all of the blame or behave as though she alone has something to apologize for.”

They also noted, “She has very firm boundaries about what she will and won’t tolerate after everything that happened during her previous life in Britain. From Meghan’s perspective, those boundaries are about protecting herself and her family rather than prolonging a feud.”

Another insider claimed that Markle could try for a “different relationship” with Middleton. Still, it would need to work both ways. “She isn’t going to bow to Kate, beg for forgiveness or pretend that her own grievances never existed simply to secure a royal peace deal,” they said.

The sister-in-law’s strained relationship became public in 2021. It came up as Harry and Markle sat with Oprah Winfrey for an interview. Markle tackled reports that she had made Middleton “cry.”

The disagreement involved flower-girl dresses before the 2018 royal wedding. She disputed that version, saying, “The reverse happened.” Markle said Middleton later apologised with flowers and a note. She also called her sister-in-law “a good person.”

According to Today, Harry later revisited the issue in his 2023 memoir, Spare. He also wrote about the row over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress. He even described Markle telling Middleton that she had a “baby brain” during a discussion about wedding rehearsals.

Another royal source claimed, “There is baggage on both sides that cannot simply be erased because Harry and Meghan are geographically closer again. Meghan believes she was deeply hurt by what happened before she left Britain.”

Meanwhile, “Kate has had to watch intensely private family disagreements discussed publicly. Neither woman is likely to pretend those years never happened.” One insider said that Markle would meet Middleton halfway. But she does not plan to make any further concessions beyond that.
