‘Irreparable Damage’: Prince William and Harry Face Blunt Verdict as 87% Reject Reunion
Prince Harry and Prince William’s relationship may be beyond repair for some royal fans. A new Daily Express poll found that 87% of readers don’t want the brothers to make up. Only 10% voted in favor of a reunion, while 3% said they weren’t sure.
The poll ran from 7 a.m. on October 8 until 5 p.m. on October 12. It asked readers, “Do you want Prince William and Harry to make up?” Meanwhile, The Daily Express poll also drew blunt comments from readers. One wrote, “Irreparable damage that Harry can never put right.”
The second said, “No, because after all the trouble H has caused, William knows he can never trust him again. He (William) must put his wife and his three children first.” A third reader added, “H can never be trusted. Period.” Another stated, “Trust is the issue here. How could Prince William and Princess Kate ever trust a word Harry says?”
William and Harry were close growing up. But things have changed a lot over the past decade. Tensions had already surfaced before Harry married Meghan Markle in 2018. Things got worse after Harry and Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020.
Harry’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey brought more family tensions into the open. Their Netflix series, Harry & Meghan, followed in 2022. Then Harry released his memoir, Spare, in January 2023.
The book shared Harry’s side of his relationship with William. He also claimed that William physically attacked him during an argument about Markle in 2019. Speaking to Fox News Digital, fellow expert Hilary Fordwich described Spare as the final straw for William.
The brothers have reportedly had little contact since the book came out. Harry spoke about the family rift during an ITV interview with Tom Bradby on January 8, 2023. “They’ve shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile. And I’m not sure how honesty is burning bridges. You know, silence only allows the abuser to abuse,” Harry said.
He also added, “I would like to get my father back, I would like to have my brother back.” William, however, mostly stayed quiet about their rift. He hasn’t publicly shared his thoughts on a possible reunion.
According to RadarOnline, a source claimed William had “vowed he will not be drawn into meetings simply because Harry is living in the country again.” The insider also claimed William didn’t want to attend public events with Harry just to make things look fine between them.
“From William’s perspective, that would be completely false,” it noted. The brothers have since also attended a few events together. But they didn’t reportedly interacted in either of them. They were at King Charles III’s coronation in May 2023. There, Harry sat rows behind his elder brother.
The two also turned up at the memorial service for Lord Robert Fellowes in Norfolk on August 29, 2024. Fellowes was married to Lady Jane Fellowes, Princess Diana’s sister. The brothers reportedly sat apart during the service.
